Yesterday at 2:20 p.m., Jay William Burley became the youngest member of the the ZLC. Mother and son are doing fine, and efforts continue to scrape Dad off the ceiling. Jay, a 7-pound, 12-ounce, switch-hitting, ambidextrous pitcher, is a likely Blue Jays' draft-and-follow selection in June, 2021. At just under two feet, he's not as tall as some prospects, but those Burleys are crafty. Congratulations and best wishes to Craig and his family.

Congrats Craig!

Hannah wants to know if the name "Jay" had anything to do with the team. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the Simpsons.

Standing O all around Craig...As the owner/GM/manager of twin 15 year old boys...good freakin' luck.

If the name had anything to do with Craig's team allegiance, the child would be Jay Expo Burley. I'm a bit disappointed that my suggestion of "Kelvim" (for a boy or a girl) was dismissed. That would have made him a fine playmate for little Erubiel Gizzi.

Congrats, Craig. May your child have enough sense not to follow papa's path. :)

Coach: Thanks for the advice re: my as-yet-to-be composed child, but my wife and I are rather fond of the name Chan Ho Gizzi. There is the other matter of whether I should be allowed to introduce another confused life with Gizzi DNA into the world, but I'll leave that discussion for another day.

Congratulations, Craig!

No doubt the Jays will need bullpen help 20 years from now, so I'd suggest keeping young Jay's pitch counts low during his formative years. :-)

Thanks everyone. He's amazing.

Hannah wants to know if the name "Jay" had anything to do with the team. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the Simpsons.

Yes on both counts, and a million other good associations. Jay Payton was not one of them.

Also, I'll be advising him to take the Yankee contract. A boy's gotta find his own way.

By the way, interested parties can check out Jay's new website. Don't forget to bookmark!

Barely a week old and already he's better at HTML authoring than I am.
