Unlike their real-life namesakes, the Texas Rangers are displaying little fortitude (and less sense) as they prepare to fly into The City Of The Damned today. A-Rod, who's normally more sensible than this, plans to stay in his hotel room during his off-hours, and most of his teammates appear to be following suit. Memo to Alex: from all accounts, the Kansas City Royals are not dropping dead on board their charter airplane, unless Tony Pena had a coronary following yesterday's ninth inning. This is going to get more annoying yet.

Weirdest quote of the day, from Buck Showalter: "I take great pride in washing my hands." I'm happy for you, big guy.

Showalter also said: “Hey, I could get hit by a car walking across the street.”

If he continues to start Ruben Sierra ahead of Teixeira and Mench, that can be arranged.

Out of curiosity, I checked out the ticket-purchase function on the Jays' official website. Seems like there are singles available all over the park for tomorrow's Loonie Bonanza, but for a pair together, you've got to go Upper Skydeck.

Woo-hoo!

I think the best quote of the week has to go to Craig Wilson:

"Hits seem to come in bunches. They're like bananas. Did you ever see a skinny gorilla?"

Ladies and gents.. the new Spaceman!

There will be huge lines at the Will Call booths if everyone ordered tickets through the Web site or by phone, so if you're going, get there early. Nothing wrong with seeing A-Rod and company take batting practice; the doors open at 5:30. I'm busy all day with another meeting, then my high school team's final preseason practice (we play mighty Leaside tomorrow as a decided underdog). I should be home in time to see most of the game on TV tonight and catch up here in Da Box.

Seems like there are singles available all over the park ...

Hmm, with Delgado, Phelps, Palmeiro, Gonzalez, Rodriguez and Blalock, I'd think there'd be more extra-base hits.
