Okay, so you're the New Haven Ravens, and you've already got a star-studded lineup. Your outfield is John-Ford Griffin, Alexis Rios and Gabe Gross, and you've got Guillermo Quiroz behind the plate. You've received star pitching prospects Dustin McGowan, David Bush and Jordan DeJong from Dunedin, and signed free agent pitcher Juan Pena to close. What more do you need?

Well, how about a shortstop named Russ Adams? Yup -- the Jays promoted their 2002 first-round draft pick to the AA Eastern League last night, giving the Ravens an astounding five former first-rounders (Gross, Griffin, Rios, McGowan, Adams). We may be looking back on this team years from now as a future championship squad taking shape.

The Ravens are responding well to the infusion of talent. They swept a doubleheader from Binghampton last night in front of GM JP Ricciardi. Cam Reimers scattered 8 hits and 4 walks over 5 IP (2 R, 2 K) to get the win in the opener, while Griffin and Quiroz each drove in two runs. In the nightcap, David Bush made a fine AA debut, throwing four innings of one-run ball, allowing 5 H, 0 BB and striking out 5. In his last game before being promoted to AAA Syracuse (to make room for Adams), Jorge Sequea singled and scored a run. He finishes his New Haven stint at .342/.400/.459 in 111 AB. Perhaps alarmingly, however, Bush left the game with tightness in his elbow after coming out to warm up in the top of the fifth inning. Something to keep an eye on.
