MLB has opened the polls for voting on the 2003 Hank Aaron Awards, which goes to the top offensive player in each league. Carlos Delgado won this award in 2000, and I think he has a good shot at it this year... my votes have gone to Delgado and to Barry Bonds. Incidentally, Vernon Wells is also among the six nominees for the AL award.

The voting booth is at the MLB website. If you don't want to receive spam from MLB (I like MLB's e-mail; not everyone does) then remember to untick the boxes.

You have to be at least 13 to vote?

Given the AL voting for MVP the past decade it seems like any aged person is as qualified to vote.

That's too bad. I heard Robert Dudek's son was all ready to place a dozen votes for Bobby Kielty. :)

You're never too young to learn the term "write-in".

It's still way too early to vote. Bonds and Pujols are still very close, and Delgado slips a little bit more everyday.

Glad to see Moffatt back. I thought maybe you had been driven away.

I believe this has to do with the US child privacy protection laws, specifically COPPA. In fact, the document at that link mentions the age of 13.

Nah.. not going to happen. I moved and I'm in the middle of unpacking, so I'm not going to be on much for the next week or two. The only reason I've been on so much in the last 24 hours is because I needed to write an article and my weekly newsletter for About and I've had a severe case of writers block. Whenever I'm on the computer and need to procrastinate, I come either here or to Portal of Evil.

Just because I don't agree with someone, doesn't mean I don't like them. I think Robert is a good guy. The problem with text communications is that you miss a lot of the nuances of face-to-face discussion, so unless you're a great writer (which I'm not), your comments can look a lot more confrontational than intended.

Cheers,

Mike

There doesn't seem to be a limit on the number of times you can vote (or at least I haven't reached it yet). After you've voted, just click Back (you may need to right-click to get that option) and hit the vote button again. I'm currently voting for Dave Berg and Cesar Izturis.

Whoa! Back up. Robert Dudek has a son? Robert Dudek is married? Robert Dudek found someone to put up with his nimble number-crunching necromancing? Dang, and I thought I was lucky to find someone to put up with me. Come to think of it, my wife has been making a few trips out of town recently. She said she was going to Michigan once for business. Sure. "Michigan." "Business."

Moffatt, I agree with you a lot, but I still don't like you.

I'm voting for Bonds anyway. So there, Jurgen!

She said she was going to Michigan once for business.

I once knew a guy named Tony Michigan. And are you sure she didn't say, "to get some business"?

Tony Michigan? Didn't I see him on Spice Channel last night? I mean, didn't I hear about him being on Spice Channel last night?

It's hard to like someone you're in awe of.

So that's it! I've been in awe of Moffatt all along!

Mystery solved.

Don't worry, I hear there's a support group for that sort of thing.
