No, not "break into the SkyDome". We don't encourage that; I think Jordan is still doing community service from his unfortunate sentence in the ill-fated "Operation Steal Gord Ash's Fax Machine" caper following the Shawn Green trade.

This is actually a quick note for those of you who dream of a career in the world of baseball. I know Da Box has a lot of younger readers... well, younger than me... and your dreams and aspirations may not yet have been cruelly crushed by the twin steamrollers of Fate and Destiny.

The Cleveland Indians are looking for fill Internships (these are *paid* positions) in six different departments for the coming year. (Corporate Sales, Broadcasting and Special Events, Baseball Operations, Ticketing and Marketing, Community Relations, and Media Relations). Some of the positions are short-term, some run throughout the season, and the Baseball Operations positions run 12 months from this November to next October. Deadlines for applying are October 31.

Normally, college seniors are considered, but graduate students, recent graduates, and college juniors are also considered. As a bonus, of course, some schools give academic credit for internship programs.

If anyone would like more details, or know someone who would, send me an e-mail at tybalt4@yahoo.com and I will forward you the e-mail I have with all the details.

Without giving away the entire interview, which will run in early October, this is exactly the type of opportunity Jon Lalonde, the Jays' Scouting Director, talked about when we asked him for advice on behalf of readers aspiring to a career in baseball. Positions like these give you a foot in the door, and what happens after that is up to you.

It would've worked, too! Except for those nosy kids and their rotten dog.

I dunno, I totally missed it, I claim 200,029
...I'll keep those internships in mind, they probably don't consider freshmen for these things.

So are there Keith Law-like positions for 28 year olds who don't want to pay their dues in baseball?
