In a twist on its usual prospect ratings, Baseball America has turned its eye to the next wave of potential General Managers in baseball, with this Top Ten list compiled by Josh Boyd. The list includes some familliar names, including the Phillies' Mike Arbuckle, who might well have ended up in Toronto had JP Ricciardi not been available, and former Jays Scouting Director Tim Wilken, touted as a possible successor to Chuck Lamar in suddenly-intriguing Tampa Bay.

Speaking of Josh Boyd, we're very happy to announce that Josh has agreed to speak with Batter's Box about the Blue Jays farm system! We'll be conducting the interview this week, and hope to have one or more articles ready to go by as early as next Monday. Keep watching for more details on another Batter's Box exclusive interview!

Great Gideon, this is a real treat! looking forward to that interview.
Will it be somewhat interactive? Is there any way of having an input?
If both answers are a No, please congratulate Josh Boyd from one of his foreign fans!

I'd definitely be interested in Josh Boyd's opinion on the defensive abilities of Adams and Sequea at short and second, and of Hill at third, short or second.

I too am looking forward to the interview.

An interesting list of prospects, but I think the next wave is already knocking at the door. Aside from hoping to snare DePosdesta from Oakland, I know the boys at U.S.S. Mariner were hopeful that Kim Ng and Chris Antonetti would be interviewed to be Gillick's replacement.

Should we be worried that nobody under Ricciardi's command is on this list?

Interesting that there are no Jays staffers listed, but Tim Wilkin is.

Baseball America today has a review of who might be selected in the rule 5 draft. BA lists 5 Jays who could be lost, Tyrell Godwin, Miguel Negron, Derrek Nunley, Ryan Houston, Josue Matos. Godwin and Negron could go as speedy outfielder types and the three pitchers could go as hard throwers for the bullpen.

The issue will be, are the players coming in through the rule 5 draft, better than the players lost?

The rule 5 draft is next Monday.

If Chacin is available he will be higher than the ones mentioned by Boyd. There are several lefthanded pitchers and power hitters in this draft. BA's W Kimmey says that Pete Sikaras a D'Back is this year Aquilino, same stuff and numbers hidden due to his pitching in extreme hitters parks.

I'd be more worried if one of Ricciardi's people were listed. Billy Beane's front office was damaged badly when guys like JP and Grady Fuson left, and DePodesta's eventual departure will only make it worse. Selfishly, I hope no one comes snooping around Skydome looking for front-office talent -- though someone will, eventually.

BTW, we weren't able to invite Bauxite questions for Josh's interview -- we were short on time -- but if I can work any of these queries into follow-ups, I will. However, I can tell you that Josh will in fact be providing his views on the defensive futures of Adams and Hill.

I had to look this up. Sikaras hasn't gotten out of A-ball yet. Didn't Aquilino pitch in AAA before the Jays took him? Doesn't sound like a good comparison to me.

Interesting that there are no Jays staffers listed, but Tim Wilkin is.

Really? Wilkin is working for the Jays and Devil Rays this year? (Maybe we'll get Aubrey Huff in a mix-up.)

Wilken left the Jays midseason feeling that with the change in philosophy he wasn't making much of an impact with the team and decided to resign.

"I decided I needed to look for more opportunities and to make more of a contribution to an organization."
