This has been a moderate success the first couple of times we've run it, let's see what happens now.

I'll start off. HOW ABOUT THEM LEAFS!? I am not a Toronto fan, but I am mightily impressed by how they are playing. Now that they've stopped trying to goon up on every team they meet, and have cut the dirty play and the whining, it looks like they are focusing instead on playing tight team-oriented hockey. An amazing transformation.

I'm just glad that the Oilers cut the bad gust of wind and surpassed the Ducks 3-2.

I'm not holding out much hope for the Oil this year, benum. I was at the Carolina game earlier this week and the Oilers looked awful. Unless the Oilers get Brett Hull or Cam Neely, the Oates signing is $2M the Oilers couldn't afford to waste.

Here's hoping Kevin Lowe finds someone to take Tommy Salo off his hands.

Yes, how about them Leafs!!! Having gotten out of the so-called "tough" part of their schedule, me Grimlock think there's a real chance they could win the division, and avoid a first-round matchup with the Flyers or New Jersey.

Go Leafs Go!

The nicest thing about the Leafs is that they've eliminated their gooning and whining while maintaining their physical play and their intensity. Belak plays dumb, but it's nice for the Leafs to have Domi and Perrott -- two policemen that are also effective forecheckers. Their non-uselessness beyond fighting helps the Leafs to roll four lines and rest their skill players longer than other teams with one-dimensional thugs (see Lessard, Francis; Peters, Andrew; etc.)

Here's my only hockey prediction for today: Mike Moffatt will post in about 1 hour, 14 minutes to crow about the Flames. And rightfully so! They're looking good.

This is the first Leafs team I can recall watching that actually plays mean hockey. There's less "Sideshow Bob" stuff, but they still get in an extra whack if their opponents skate somewhere they're not welcome. When Berg, Pilar and Fitzgerald are hitting, you know things are going well.

They are playing very well. I doubt they'll make the playoffs, but stranger things have happened.

The Leafs (a.k.a. The 1994-'95 Calgary Flames) have looked amazing of late. I didn't think the Canadian Dollar could buy so much talent. They'll win their division, but if history is going to repeat itself, they better watch out for Ray Whitney in game seven.

What a heartbreaking series that was.

The Jays can't seem to buy any luck.. they should have been the talk of the month with their great off-season moves, but they can't seem to buy time on 590 with the Leafs playing so well. The Leafs deserve it, though. They really are a great team, no mattter how much it bothers me. :)

Wow, Ray Whitney in Game Seven. The Sharks of the mid-90s were as wily as Scott Evil. If Sandis Ozolinsh didn't pass while on a clear breakaway, the '94 Leafs would have had an equally painful San Jose memory as do the '94 Wings and '95 Flames.

I did a search in the search engines on "sports hockey blog" and I found your web blog.
I am a Halifax Mooseheads Fan living in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and thus my interest in searching for a hockey blog on the WWW as I thought about creating a blog on the Halifax Mooseheads hockey team. Anyways I read your whole blog to see if you had any information on how to operate a blog to see if I can understand the technology of operating a blog and from what I see I am somewhat hesitant at the present time. It may be too much for this old Halifax Mooseheads fan.
It was good reading though.

I will be back again.
Take care

I see you talking about the NHL but our local hockey to see in person is the Mooseheads which at $13.50 per ticket is alot cheaper than a NHL ticket to see future NHL players play for other than money.
We received most of the Screaming Eagles best players next year, yet I hope the Screaming Eagles do great as they create a exciting rivaly with Halifax.

Hey Steve, is that Eagles-Mooseheads trade really still going next year? I understodd that Davis, Villeneuve, and McRae were meant to help the Moose to a title, then Cyr, Picard, and Bernier would help the Eagles this year. Then it was even. Please, correct me if I'm wrong. There's nothing like seeing a world class athlete (I'm thinking MA Fleury) for $10.50 in the best seats in the house. I was at his return game this season (last Friday) and I must say it was amazing. I've also been privleged enough to see what was probabaly Sidney Crosby's worst game of his life against the Eagles in November. I sat about three seats from SI's Michael Farber in row Z.
