I tell you something, I know what you're thinking.

  1. Fordin Notes on the rough day for coaches Barnett and Walton.

  2. Larry Millson of the Globe has the similar story "Painful time for coaches".

  3. Millson discusses Dustin McGowan in "Jays' pitching prospect bedevilled by Tampa". I still believe McGowan is a full year away from a full-time role with the Jays. It'd be nice if McGowan and Arnold could lock up rotation spots for 2005, as it would allow the Jays to use their money for other things, like re-signing Delgado.

  4. Fordin knows what I'm thinking in "Healed Hinske ready for 2004". I like the picture, but why the second pair of shoes?

  5. MLB.com also has Spencer Fordin's writeup on yesterday's game. They're called exhibition games because they don't count.

  6. The Toronto Star has the Associated Press recap of yesterday's game.

  7. Geoff Baker looks at the bookworm habits of the manager in "Throw book at Tosca — he'll likely read it". I'm curious to know what would happen if someone threw a book at Richard Griffin.

  8. Dave Perkins states that "Jays would be happy with so-so defence". I think this is likely to be the subject of most of the Star's criticism from now on, no matter how successful the Jays are. Future Star quote: "Sure, the Jays won 95 games this season. However, their defence is terrible, and everyone knows that pitching and defence wins championships. The Jays will never win anything of importance as long as J.P. and his hitters-first philosophy of baseball is implemented."

  9. Jeff Blair of the Globe has an interesting piece on AAA pitching coach Bard Arnsberg titled "Arnsberg defends coaching record". Arnsberg's hiring was quite controversial to many Bauxites, as he's developed a reputation as an arm shredder.

  10. Mike Rutsey of the Sun has what many of the Bauxites want to hear in "Left-hander Valerio De Los Santos makes his long-awaited spring debut today.". It's okay to hold your breath on a reliever, but you gotta stop once he turns blue.

  11. Monday's Sports Transactions of interest to Jays fans: "Optioned OF John-Ford Griffin to Syracuse of the IL. Assigned RHP D.J. Hanson outright to Dunedin of the FSL and RHP Jesse Harper to New Hampshire of the EL.".

I need a vacation. Anyone know a cheap spot where a guy can do some golfing in March?
