While I was unsuccessful in getting lots of cities involved, this weekend will be a great one for those of you in London, Ontario or the Toronto area. Rogers Sportsnet is showing the spring-training game featuring the Blue Jays vs. the Astros on March 27th at 1:00PM EST. The Batter's Box and the Blue Jays Cheer Club would like to meet as many of you as possible, get together to watch the game, have some wings, and generally just have a good time.

Where we'll be watching the game

  • London, ON: The Alibi Roadhouse, 25 Oxford St. W. Batter's Box regulars Brent and Mike Moffatt will be there.
  • Toronto, ON:Sports Center Cafe, 49 St. Clair W, just west of Yonge St. All kinds of Bauxites will be there.

No invitations are required.. just show up and enjoy the game! If you could let us all know you're coming, that'd be great, but it isn't required.

We'd like you to promote this on other message boards; this isn't simply a Batter's Box or Cheer Club only event. All baseball fans are invited to come.

Has anyone contacted the aforementioned establishment in Toronto? We could face some competition for the big screen TV from March Madness fans.

If you're coming to the London event, look for this charcter.

I'm told that both Aaron and Andrew will be at the Toronto event. We'll try our best to make the event visible, so you're not searching around for us everywhere.

Cheers,

Mike

It looks okay, since the basketball game starts at 4:30 PM on Saturday. That leaves NHL afternoon games as the only competition.

I can confirm for the Toronto event.

On Saturday the only afternoon games are Colorado at Detroit and NY Rangers at Philadelphia. We should be okay in that regard.

Cheers,

Mike

Oh the humanity!

I'll also be attending the London event. It will be nice to meet some fellow Bauxites.

We have the screen. Do not panic.

Reservation is under Aaron Reynolds (my actual name) if you get there before me. I'll be wearing a hat and probably a jersey.

Not sure whether I will be able to make it to the Toronto event on Saturday. :-( But I hope to sit with the Cheer Club people at some point and root extremely loudly for the Good Guys.

Damn, I just missed the London gathering by a couple of weekends. I'm guessing those of us in the U.S. are out of luck on this one.

Craig S. : I can't speak for Mike, but I'm sure there will be quite a few weekends where the Beer Club can catch a game in London. Hopefully we'll catch you the next time.

Are there any Bauxites here in Peterborough, ON?

I'd like to set up future events... I unforuntately have to work but hope to put the game on the radio...

Cheerio and long live the spirit of Willie Upshaw.

I am playing squash downtown until about 2pm - I would love to drop in at the St. Clair West hotspot, but only if I can get there before 3pm. Maybe see you guys there (I'll stand in for Dave Till, so to speak)

I will be participating in my fantasy draft this Saturday, which is problematic enough, but a bigger problem is that the draft is in Los Angeles, which, despite my standard U.S. ignorance of geography, I am sure is nowhere near Toronto.

On the other hand, I do live in Seattle, so if any Jays fans living in Vancouver want to see the club when they visit the Mariners, we should plan on getting it done. Rumor has it that Coach is working on a press pass for yours truly, but that seems like a long shot, and at any rate it won't prevent me from hanging out in the stands during the game. We'll re-visit this when the season gets going, but I wanted to get the ball rolling, as they say.

I may be a few minutes late, but I'm there!

If Doc gets a start in Seattle I'll be there

I also have a fantasy draft that day, but it will likely be over (or close to it) by 1 PM. Alas, I'm also stuck in Kingston for another month or so (although I do intend to come back for Opening Day and the Tigers series). Any Bauxites in Kingston want to set something up?
