About getting on that train
Every day and every night
The only thing that makes it good
Is seeing my favourite sight

That favourite sight being OPENING DAY!!

It seems that a lot of articles have already been linked in yesterday's roundup, but I'll just crib what they did, and add a few of my own.

  1. Spencer Fordin has the "Jays Opening Day Quick Hits". Fordin concludes: "The Blue Jays will remain in the hunt for most of the season before wilting in August, finishing with anywhere between 84 and 90 wins." Is this reasonable to you? Yay or nay?

  2. In a related article Fordin states that "Blue Jays expect to contend". Article includes projected lineups for today's match against the Motown Kitties. Roy Halladay vs. Jason Johnson. Anyone know the over/under on this one?

  3. Don't forget the Fordin Notes. Looks like Hudson should be able to play in today's game, and Roy Halladay Sr. will be in the stands for today's game.

  4. Also don't forget the Jeff Blair Notes.

  5. One of the Bauxites must have pissed Richard Griffin off. I hope it was me. Anyhow, "J.P. cult still alive and well: Jay fans still on GM's bandwagon". I actually used the term "bandwagon" the other day to describe J.P. fans in response to something Griffin wrote. Norm in Markham asked:

why bother commenting on Griffin at all?

why not just ignore the MEDIOT!

    To which I replied:

Because he occasionally makes a good point. The Batter's Box should be for *all* baseball fans, including ones who are slow to get on the JP/Keith Law bandwagon, and many of those people enjoy reading Griffin. Heck, even I disagree with the front office from time to time.

So I can only assume Griffin is ripping off my ideas. Can you sink any lower than ripping off the Moffattman? This roundup artist says "no".

  6. The Star has another article on "The Ricciardi Factor". Is that like The China Syndrome? Because that was a pretty sweet movie.

  7. Mark Zwolinski: "Jays set a target of 90 to 95 wins". Is this target too high? Yay or nay?

  8. Larry Millson states that the Jays are "Looking for a minor miracle". They don't need a minor miracle! They need a move to the AL Central. The Winnipeg Blue Jays, anyone?

  9. Info on today's game:"New-look Tigers open in Toronto". (AP)

  10. The third, fourth, and fifth starters should be improved over last year, as Mike Ganter reports in "Jays feeling better about back end".

  11. Batter's Box regular and stat guru Stephen Tomlinson predicts an 87 win season for the Jays? Is that about right? Yay or nay?

  12. Tom Tippett of Diamond Mind is less optimistic predicting an 79 win season for the Jays. How likely is it that the Jays finish under .500?

  13. Gerry found some articles on Jays minor leaguers Guillermo Quiroz, Russ Adams, and Aaron Hill.

I'm probably missing more articles than I found.. I'll let you guys find the rest. Baseball season is here!
