It's time the Jays started another streak, after winning three and then losing three in their last six games. Roy Halladay is always a pleasure to watch and once again he's matched up against a quality pitcher. Mark Buehrle falls into the "crafy lefthander" category. These days any lefty seems to spell trouble for the Jays.

Someone once told me that Buehrle and Mark Hendrickson have basically the same stuff. I agree. It's what you do with your stuff that counts.

Halladay gets paid big bucks, in part, to stop losing streaks. Let's hope we see that tonight.

The game's on Extra Innings in the US so I can watch tonight.

Lineups for tonight:

Toronto (vs. the lefty)

Johnson 9
Woodward 6
Wells 8
Delgado 3

Berg 7

Chicago vs HLH

Harris 4
Uribe 6
Ordonez 9

At least Berg isn't batting sixth again.

I can't believe Berg in the nine spot is a better fit than Catalanotto, even against a tough lefty, but we'll see how things play out.

Vernon Wells is going to hit two homers tonight.

The Expos are on The Score at 10:00 against the Dodgers.

Cripes, it's dead as a doornail in here.

This team could use about ten rainouts in a row, so if someone has a hotline to the Powers That Be and can summon up a serious jam in the SkyDome roof (it was open yesterday, were they airing the place out?) and a week-long wet spell, that would be *really* good.

The Fisher Cats are trying to make it an organizational sweep -- something we haven't seeen in a while. Theyre' in extra innings.

apparently some ice hockey outfit cloaked in blue has emerged victorious in their battle with some skaters from pennsylvania. Any word on whether Sportsnet or WGN are carrying the early game (4pm) on Saturday? (They are both scheduled to carry the 7pm game).

I hate rain delays. It just messes up the pitching staff

Ok no more leafs.
It appears as though the jays game at the cell has been officially postponed. Doubleheader, anyone?

Yay! Not a loss tonight!

It sounds like the Score announcers aren't actually at the game. Only faint ballpark sounds. (Warren Cromartie is the analyst for this game, not Darrin Fletcher.)

So I flip on the audio from the mlb.com Dodgers broadcast (Vin Scully), but the mlb.com feed is skipping.

Lots of former Jays: Izturis, Green (at 1B), Tony Batista.

Sometimes you see the live camera repositioning (something normally done while another camera is live).

Any video broadcast is better than none, but if you could have got the Extra Innings broadcast if the Score didn't have rights, I'm sure this is a letdown.

On the skipping audio, Vin Scully is projecting a Dodgers victory now that they have a run (Expos have had serious offense problems this year). Now Green adds a 2nd run (with an HR). I guess I'll go to bed now. :-)

Tommorrow could be a blessing in disguise...or of course, a pistol whip below the belt.
_Steve Z - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 10:37 PM EDT (#68840) #
The college tilt between Oklahoma and OSU was also postponed. I guess JP will be joining the Jays a little later than expected. You can listen to the hyped matchup (featuring potential Jays #1 pick David Purcey) tomorrow.
Craig B - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 10:50 PM EDT (#68841) #
I'm watching SF vs Florida via GameDay. I'm pretty sure that without Bonds in it, the Giants would have the worst offensive team in the majors, Montreal's struggles notwithstanding.

Tonight's extravaganza:

Hammonds 9
Dallimore 5
Grissom 8
Bonds 7
Alfonzo 4
Feliz 3
Perez 6
Torrealba 2
Correia 1

That's awful-looking.
Craig B - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:04 PM EDT (#68842) #
So I broke down and ordered MLB Audio. Actually, it's free if you sign up for "4 free issues of SI". Which you can then cancel when you get your first one, they even give you the web address.

Man I love listening to Vin Scully.
Craig B - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:08 PM EDT (#68843) #
Joe Brinkman, one of the best umpires going, just made a rarely-made call in the SF-Fla game. Dustan Mohr was pinch-hitting for the pitcher (yes, PH in the second inning, gives you an idea how Correia did - it's 9-2 Florida) and on 0-2 Dontrelle Willis went to his mouth. Brinkman called the ball immediately, a rarely made and very correct call.

Willis hit Mohr on the 1-2, and now
Craig B - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:10 PM EDT (#68844) #
Wow. Brian Dallimore just hit a grand slam following a run-scoring single by Hammonds. 9-7 Marlins in the second inning!

It was Brian Dallimore's first career hit. Way to go, kid. Welcome to the big leagues.
_Tassle - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:19 PM EDT (#68845) #
Was Phelps walking Bonds unintentionally intentional? Because if it was I'm not sure I understand that one. It's 9-7 with a runner on first and nobody out, and it's pretty obvious your pitchers are having trouble getting anyone out. Why not pitch to him and hope for a popup?
Craig B - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:22 PM EDT (#68846) #
9-9 now, still in the 2nd. Bonds motored in from second to beat the throw after a single by Feliz, the G's announcers say it's as fast as they've seen him run in a while.
_Tassle - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:23 PM EDT (#68847) #
ARGH!
Why do you sac bunt NOW? They haven't been able to get anybody out. Neifi's pretty bad, but damn.
Craig B - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:24 PM EDT (#68848) #
Why you don't play Neifi Perez, ever...

Neifi just sac bunted in a game where 18 runs have been scored in less than two innings. Scary thing is, it was probably the right move.

And now Phelps is coming out and Nate Bump in. Good to see these guys micromanaging a 9-9 game in the bottom of the second.
Craig B - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:26 PM EDT (#68849) #
Oh, and the infield is in, too. McKeon, you're a genius.
_Tassle - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:27 PM EDT (#68850) #
Surprise, surprise, Bump can't get anyone out either.
_Cristian - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:27 PM EDT (#68851) #
Hmmmmm...how many times is one able to use SI's promotion to get free MLB.com stuff? I got a month of mlb.tv last year and now I'm scamming them for the free game day audio.

Looks like it's working.
Craig B - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:30 PM EDT (#68852) #
Oh, this is pure comedy. I had been heading to bed, but now I have to see how this works out. Mohr popped out on a 2-0 pitch, bases full 2 out for Hammonds.
_Tassle - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:31 PM EDT (#68853) #
Thank goodness Dustin Mohr still sucks, or this inning woulda never ended
_David Armitage - Friday, April 30 2004 @ 11:41 PM EDT (#68854) #
Hee Sop Choi is the only reason my fantasy team even has a chance at winning any offensive categories- 5/12, 6 runs, 9 RBI, and a .417/.533/1.417 line so far this week!
_Mark - Saturday, May 01 2004 @ 12:18 AM EDT (#68855) #
Almost, but not quite a "BLIBB" to Bonds in the bottom of the 5th for the Giants' first lead.
_Paul S - Saturday, May 01 2004 @ 12:20 AM EDT (#68856) #
I was all set to like Warren (the snarking on Driefort was hilarious) but then he just parroted Joe Morgan in talking about why the A's fail in the playoffs. Ugh.
_Cristian - Saturday, May 01 2004 @ 01:13 AM EDT (#68857) #
I had a productive Saturday lined up for tomorrow but I guess it's all gone to hell now.

From sportnet.ca
"Sportsnet will carry both games of the double-header in Chicago on Saturday. Game 1 begins at 4 pm ET and the second game is scheduled to start approx. 30 minutes after the completion of the first game."
