...bring May Doubleheaders!

* Fordin Notes - Wells deals with a slump, Woodward deals with a hot streak that moves him to 2nd in the order against lefties, and Tosca lobbies for Minnesota's turf at SkyDome.

*Blue Jays are happy to leave April behind
. Perhaps yesterday's rainout was a good thing as the Jays had one of their worst Aprils in team history.

* Jays lacking in baseball chit-chat. Perhaps the infielders could yell 'SWING' after the pitch is thrown like they do in Little League.

* Blue Jay Watch - The delay, though, poses a bit of a problem for Tosca as now Halladay's next regular day to pitch falls on an off-day, May 6, when the Jays are in the middle of a six-game homestand against Kansas City and the White Sox.

"We're looking at that right now," Tosca said of when Halladay pitches next. "He'll either go on three days' rest or have an extra-day's rest. We'll see what happens (today) and go from there."

Bauxites, you make the call! Short rest or an extra day's rest for Halladay's next start?

* Tosca on Tenderhooks? - Another Tosca watch story. Are 2 consecutive bad Aprils a sign of something being done poorly by the team or is it just a coincidence?

* Yesterday's rain out forces the Jays to play two games starting at 4:05. Last year the Jays played no doubleheaders, one of the advantages of playing half your games in a dome.

* Game 1 - Halladay (2-3, 3.53) vs Buehrle (1-1, 5.93) - 4:05 pm
* Game 2 - Lilly (1-2, 4.32) vs Wright (0-3, 6.14)

After reading Griffen's article, I wondered if the headline writer made up the headline just to annoy Bauxites and the like. The article itself is about Estaban Loazia maturing as a player, and the general lack of enthusiasm for baseball within clubhouses. It took me a bit to figure out what the headline had to do with the article. Is it necessary to headline every column with the most negative, stretched connotation imagineable?

I say if the Jays can get Halladay out of the game with less than 90 pitches (ie put the game away early), he goes on three days. But if he needs to go more than 90, you give him the extra day. I figure if Halladay's got decent stuff, 90 pitches should get him through to the 7th.

In Jayson Stark's column today (COMN), he had a quote from Ricciardi on Tosca's job security:

"He's not in trouble," Ricciardi told Rumblings. "He's going to finish the year. Then we'll see where we are at that point, as an organization. But he's not in trouble right now."
