As avid Boxers are no doubt aware after reading Scott Lucas' roundup today, the Jays have acquired .091-hitting Frank Menechino to temporarily address their "short"comings.

Frankly (heh), that just cries out for another edition of Baseball's Hall of Names. Menechino probably won't make the cut, but here's one stab at what may be a first: Baseball's All-Frank Team.

It's actually a nice team; this list sticks solely to Franks who at some point made an All-Star team or the Hall of Fame. Who else should be frank-further considered?

Manager: Frank Selee

The Frankest Lineup:
C: Frank Hayes
1B: Frank Chance
2B: Frankie Frisch
SS: Frank Crosetti
3B: Frank "Home Run" Baker

DH: Frank "Chicago" Thomas

The Frankest Pitching Staff:

SP: Frank Tanana
SP: Frank Lary
SP: Frank "Spec" Shea
RP: Frank Sullivan

Benched, Frankly:

What about old expo F.P Santangelo(Frank Paul)? In disguise but still a Frank.

The bullpen could be benefit from Francisco Cordero and Francisco Rodriguez.

Cordero will probably meet the "All-Star" criterion for the original list at some point soon, too.

I don't think any "Francisco" returns came back when I searched on the term "Frank." But no, Moffatt, this does not mean the entire San Francisco historical roster is eligible.

To be frank, with the acquisition of Menechino, I'm thinking that the 2008 World Series lineup for the Jays might just have an all-Italian ring:

C: Paul Chiaffredo
1B: Vito Chiaravalotti
2B: Frank Menechino
3B: Vinny Esposito
SS/GM: J.P. Ricciardi
LF: Jarad Mangioni
CF: Angelo Porfirio
RF: Frank Catalanotto
DH: Dominic Rich
SP: James Pidutti
RP: Bubbie Buzachero
Manager: Mike Basso

For your bench, you might want to consider Frank Baumholtz, Reds and Cubs in the 1950's. He was good spray hitter, not unlike the Jays' current Frank, the Cat. I wouldn't mind either on my team.

And we have a team captain.
Yesterday, the Rangers called up righthanded reliever [drumroll please] ... Frankie Francisco.
