Dale Sveum got a third place vote in the NL for a few weeks of work. If he coached longer he would have caught Cito for points for interim managers!
Cito got 2 third place votes to come in 6th (last among vote getters). Other AL'ers getting votes were Maddon (Rays), Gardenhire (Twins), Scioscia (Angels), Francona (Red Sox), and Guillen (White Sox). I wonder if those votes both came from Toronto writers? Probably. The 5 non-Cito vote getters all played at least 163 games (one game playoff between Twins and White Sox, others division or wild card winners).
The other NL vote getters were Manuel (Phillies), Gonzalez (Marlins), Torre (Dodgers), La Russa (Cardinals), Manuel (Mets), Cooper (Astros), Sveum (Brewers - not bad for 12 games).
Obviously the NL voters weren't as playoff addicted as the AL given one playoff team got just the one vote (Sveum), Mets collapsing get Manuel votes somehow, a 4th place finish and TLR got votes anyways, Houston was probably since many voters thought they'd be dead last rather than 3rd.
