Thames, Loewen and McDade have all been hitting well, as has Tolisano in his extremely limited tenure with the Javelinas. Rzepczynski and Farina have pitched well, Farquhar has been okay, and Daly has been awful. Hechavarria was shut down early in the AFL season.

There you have it! I thought about putting all the Jays' representatives' stats in a handy table, but the season's almost over, so I'll just do it then.

McDade has done very well, even if you let the air out of the statistics.  He has controlled the strike zone very well against a higher level of competition than he faced during the regular season.  He'll be 22 in double A next year, and if he can sustain the progress he has made in Arizona, he will be on course.

Tolisano was "transferred" to Mesa where he is hitting .455 in three games with a .571 OBP.

Either Tolisano is in a mini hot streak or he has figured something out because he is hitting very well in a small sample.

Tolisano's stats don't quite add up at the official site.  He's played three games for Mesa and four games for PeoriaJ, but his total line is 11 games and .405/.538/.649.

He'll look to earn a quick promotion to AA after starting next season at Dunedin.  If he can do that - and he has shown more promise than his classmates with the stick - then he can restore some lustre to his prospect star.

Yeah, they doubled his Javelina stats in the total.  For those of us who struggle with Excel, a little bit of Schadenfreude is OK.

Another tidbit on McDade: I believe he has a 17 or 18-game hit streak going as of this morning.  So if we take the AFL as being equivalent to AA, then he should be ready for New Hampshire next season.

Should not H Alvarez be resting for the 2011 season. Maybe they will shut him down soon. Then he can get more rest by reporting late for ST. I hope he gives Z Stewart a good battle for the Closer role in ST.

I don't know, I'm sure people remeber this:

Chip Cannon was named the Most Valuable Player of the Arizona Fall League. Cannon hit .357 and tied for second in the league in hits with 37. Cannon also lead the league in home runs with 11, RBI with 29, total bases with 75 and slugging percentage at .714

Well I didn't say he would SUCCEED at AA!!  Just that he'd be ready.  ;-P

Are there playoffs for Zep to coninue stretching himself out in? He's pitching well and the #5 spot out of spring training is probably his to lose right now.
Mike Green - Wednesday, November 17 2010 @ 11:24 AM EST (#225641) #
Zep has thrown about 160 innings combined between his minor league, major league and AFL work.  I imagine that the club is looking for a total of about 170.

Chip Cannon was 25 when he won the AFL award.  Mike McDade is four years younger, still just 21, so his success in the AFL is a bit more impressive.

No playoffs, just a championship game in the AFL and the Javelinas have clinched their berth into the game (this Saturday at 3pm EST).

A wierd note w/r/t to that game.  I looked back at the AFL media notes for Monday and they had Zep slated to start TODAY'S game, not yesterday.  If one thinks about this, you would say they pushed him up to yesterday so that he would be the starter in the big game Saturday.  Hmmmm.

You wouldn't think that type of stuff is done in a developmental postseason league like the AFL, but I like it!

Alvarez isn't going to be used in relief. Elliot cleared up his sloppy language in a later tweet.

AFL update from Jonathan Mayo at mlb.com.

The Javelinas had not announced a starter for Saturday's game. It likely would have been lefty Marc Rzepczynski, who went 4-0 with a 1.16 ERA during AFL action, but the Jays southpaw left the Fall League after his final start on Tuesday, due to a personal commitment.

Thanks Tamra. I guess mistakes happen. So is Z Stewart still supposed to prepare to start & relieve.

Thames (7), Loewen (9), and McDade (3) all starting in the field for Javelinas in the AFL Championship today.

Just watched the final AFL game. A few observations. Loewen - had good at bats against left handed pitching - stood in there well - looked good - made some good swings. Impressive. Defensively he made a bad read on a line drive over his head that went for a double, however he made a good grab running hard to his right on a single where he stabbed the ball on an in between bounce. In the field he looks a lot like Werth. McDade is big but not as soft as I'd seen him. He looks confident. Not a great day offensively or defensively - but handled himself well - no glaring errors. Thames - looks like a player (ya I know that doesn't mean anything) - made a very good catch in LF running in hard - almost to 3rd base to catch a short pop-up. At bat Eric seemed slightly out of sync but then - the pitching for the other team - we lost 3 - 2 was quite excellent so not a great day for any of our teams hitters.

Speaking of pitching - Farina struck out Harper and looked good. Farina maxed out at 93 his FB seemed fairly straight to me - but he seemed to have reasonable control of it. His off speed stuff looks like either a nasty curve and or a nasty slider - lots of downward action.
