Nimmo at #13 works on so many levels.

Three of the top 16 were projected after the Jays at #21. So they've got a shot at a consensus top 18 or so.

Angels get Cron so there's one of the oft-mentioned targets at least.

Jays on the board. I'm hoping for Bell, Swihart, Guerrieri, or Norris.

I'd guess Mahtook here, and I'd be pretty happy with it.

Tyler Beede.

I did not see that coming. Wow.

I wonder what Riccardi's father thinks of Beede.

Tons of upside there too. Hard to be disappointed with that pick.

MLB is saying he's a tough sign, and there's talk that he's very projectable but doesn't show it yet.

So much for playing it safe with the first pick and/or potentially being cheap (which I never bought).

Why was I sure that Swihart would end up in a Red Sox uniform? Sigh.

Position of need for Boston, but I doubt he catches for them anytime soon. Meh.

Seems like the Jays targeted Beede or at least a power pitcher in the first round.

Wish list for tomorrow (or at least guys who were highly ranked and still around):

Josh Bell - OF
Nick Delmonico - C
Daniel Norris - LHP
Dillon Howard - RHP
Rick Oropesa - 3B/1B
Matt Dean - 3B
Jorge Lopez - RHP
Dillon Maples - RHP

Though the way Day One went, i won't be expecting any of them. My initial gut reaction o nthe guys taken:

Beede - I like it
Anderson - meh.
Musgrove - seems intriguing
Smith - I'm a sucker for bloodlines
Comer - meh.

Thank goodness the draft was on today to distract me from the fact our team's former closer, whom we traded a DH who could put up an .890 OPS for, gave up a run to lose a game in extras to the Kansas City Royals.

Or to call attention to the fact our team's former closer is likely to garner a compensatory pick on the first day of the 2012 draft?

If FF keeps pitching like this, I don't think the Jays are offering him arbitration..
