I know the rent is in arrears, the dog has not been fed in years, it's even worse than it appears but, it's all right.

In a battle of greybeards, 36 year-old Freddy Garcia (0-2, 4.84) goes for the O's. 38 year-old R.A. Dickey gets the start for the Jays (4-5, 4.50) at 1:07 pm Eastern.

Does Matt Devlin do baseball games in the US? I was expecting a fish out of water but he is right at home. I would swap him in for Martinez in a heartbeat. Now, time to find Tabler's replacement. Jack Armstrong?

Lawrie didn't appear to be in the running lane. I wonder why no argument from Showalter.

The words he knows are all obscene?

I didn't notice any argument from the players on the field, and Showalter probably took that as his cue.

Well, it doesn’t *feel* all right.  At all.  This team drags ya down, it does.  Every game I see (or part thereof) reminds me of how amazingly good those 1992 and 1993 teams were.  You very seldom felt they were out of a game -- and they very seldom were.  How could ‘pundits’ and prognosticators and ‘experts’ fantasize that even a fully healthy version of this team was 'a favourite to win the World Series' ?!

Well, if Josh Johnson were pitching better, Buerhle and Dickey had gotten into a groove a little sooner, and Reyes wasn't hurt but getting on base and letting JBau/EE drive him in, I think it wouldn't be quite as bad. Not to mention JA Happ's unfortunate injury (he was doing pretty well)  I think the only pleasant surprise this year has been the hitting of Adam Lind. All the other "will he or won't he" gambles have turned out to be "he won't" or "he can't because he's injured". :-(

I'm not saying I think this team could have been frontrunners, but they should at least have been over .500. As someone else said in another thread - I often find that a big trades often pay more dividends in the 2nd year. I expect that Buehrle, Dickey, Bonificio and Cabrera will all play better next year. And maybe Thole as well..
