Any word on Jacob Brentz and Rowdy Tellez? They are the consolation prize for not signing the Idiot. It would be interesting to find out the "plan" for these two.

The "plan" should be not to screw them up like many other prospects such as Kevin Ahrens, Eric Eiland, Kenny Wilson, Russ Adams, Chris Hawkins, Kellen Sweeny, Deck McGuire, Chad Jenkins...I could go on and on.

I suspect that Bickford was offered slot - take it or leave it. And that the late round picks were independent of his decision. (Not basing that on any specific reports, however.)

I am totally fine with the strategy of taking kids with high demands and calling their bluff, so long as the pick has protection. AA has more than established that he will not blink.

A.A. offered Bickford approx. $3.67MM which was turned down, that's why they didn't sign Brentz and Tellez until the very end. With the balance in under slot signings +5 % ($597,359) and the slot + 5% ($3,067,440) there was a possible $3,664,799.00 (and that was the offer).

I can't find that info but if it's true, I think the outcome of Brentz and Tellez and #11 next year is preferred.

Rowdy Tellez has been added to the GCL roster. Could we see him in action today?

Tellez strikes out swinging in his first AB for GCL, batting in the 4 hole.

That's the way it goes with prospects... most of them flame out.

In good news, Kyle Drabek threw 3.2 solid innings for Dunedin.  OK, I am reaching.

The only other Site I can think I might have seen the Bickford offer was the Drunk Jay Fans site, the 12th I think.
