Emilio Bonifacio was traded, Emilio Guerrero goes 6-6 with a grand slam. Friday was offense night on the farm with lots of hits and runs, the fewest runs scored in a game was 8. Thanks, in part to Guerrero Lansing scored 14 runs and won. Guerrero is 20 years old, turning 21 next week, and has been playing well in the Midwest League. He has been really hot over the last ten games.
Buffalo won, led by Mike McCoy and Chien-Ming Wang. New Hampshire had to play 15 innings but they won. Bluefield swept a doubleheader, Franklin Barreto had three hits, Mitch Nay, Matt Dean and DJ Davis homered.
Dunedin, Vancouver and the GCL Jays lost.
Rochester 2 Buffalo 6
The Bisons scored in each of the first three innings to build a 4-1 lead. In the first inning Mike McCoy doubled and scored on a ground out. In the second Brad Glenn reached on an error and scored on a sac fly from Sean Ochinko. In the third Mike McCoy had another double, and Moises Sierra had a double too to drive in the third run. Andy LaRoche singled to drive in Sierra. Ochinko had another sac fly in the sixth and reached on an error in the eighth to score another run.
Chien-Ming Wang pitched six good inning. Mickey Storey, just back from the Jays, pitched two shutout innings. Jeremy Jeffress pitched the ninth for the non-save. McCoy and Ricardo Nanita had two hits each.
Trenton 4 New Hampshire 5 - 15 innings
This game was tied at 4 after three innings and there was no further scoring for 12 innings. Marcus Walden was roughed up in the first inning, three runs on four hits. But he settled down after that and went six innings. Five relievers pitched after Walden including Matt Wright who went 4 innings for the win.
AJ Jimenez singled and scored the first run in the second inning. The Fisher Cats hit back to back home runs in the third, Gabe Jacobo hit a two run shot and Kevin Nolan a solo blast. In the 15th Kenny Wilson singled in the infield and that let Ryan Schimpf score the winning run. That was Wilson's first hit of the night. Gabe Jacobo had 3 more hits to raise his average to .368. Jacobo is on fire right now. Burns was 1-7, Jimenez 1-6 with 4 K's.
Dunedin 3 Clearwater 9
Luis Perez made the rehab start, he gave up a run in one inning on three hits. Jesse Hernandez was hit around for 10 hits and six runs, Tony Davis for 3 hits and 2 runs.
The game as tied at 2 until Clearwater scored 4 in the bottom of the fifth. The Jays did have 11 hits but only one for extra bases. Two hits for Jon Berti, Shane Opitz, Gustavo Pierre and Matt Newman.
Lansing 14 West Michigan 5
Lansing scored 3 run in the first and 9 in the third but the story was Emilio Guerrero who went 6-6 with a grand slam. Guerrero has been hitting well recently. Every starter had a hit, Dan Klein hit a home run, Dalton Pompey and Dwight Smith each had two hits.
Eric Brown pitched well except for one inning when he gave up 5 runs. Griffin Murphy pitched three shutout innings in relief.
Salem-Keizer 7 Vancouver 2
Shane Dawson had one of his poorer starts, he gave up 5 runs in 4.2 innings. On the bright side he had 7 K's.
The Canadians had 6 hits, Brenden Kalfus had half of them.
Princeton 3 Bluefield 6 - Game 1
This was the continuation of Thursdays game that was called in the fourth inning when the lights went out in West Virginia. Jairo Labourt pitched 3.2 innings before it went dark. He didn't allow a run while he was in the game but a runner of his scored on a passed ball when the game resumed. Yeyfry DelRosario pitched 3.1 shutout innings in relief.
Dawel Lugo started at shortstop on Thursday and went 1-2. When the game resumed on Friday Franklin Barreto was at short and he was 2-2 with a double. Barreto did make an error. Tim Locastro and Jorge Saez each had 3 hits, DJ Davis had just one hit but two RBI's.
Princeton 8 Bluefield 13 - game 2
Sweep for Bluefield. The Jays scored 7 runs in the first inning, built a 10-3 but then Princeton made it 10-8 with 5 runs off Francisco Gracesqui and Adaric Kelly, before the Jays scored 3 more for insurance.
The first inning for the Jays included two walks and two hit batters but the big hit was a bases loaded and bases clearing double from Jesus Gonzalez. The other six runs came via the long ball. Mitch Nay hit a three run shot, DJ Davis a solo shot and Matt Dean a two run tater. Nay, Dean and Sotillo had two hits each. Barreto was 1-4. Brady Dragmire started and gave up 3 runs in 3 innings.
GCL Blue Jays 0 GCL Braves 8
There was not much to report on in this game. The Braves scored in five different innings. Daniel Leitz, 2013 draftee, started and was charged with 6 runs, 4 earned in 3 innings. He maybe pitched a bit better than that, of his 6 runs, two reached one infield singles, one on an error and one was hit by a pitch. Connor Greene followed and he was touched for two runs in three innings.
The Jays had five hits and six errors. With Barreto promoted Edwin Fuentes played at short and made three errors. Fuentes was pulled mid game and replaced by Trey Pascazi. He made two errors for a total of five errors at shortstop in the game.
DSL Blue Jays 5 DSL Orioles 7
Richard Urena was 3-5. Jose Brito had 7 strikeouts in 4 innings.
