Richard Urena who was a Jays International Free Agent signing last year, made his debut in America after spending the first few months in the DSL.  Dunedin had another game rained out today, when they were supposed to play a double header.  New Hampshire had an early game with an excellent start from Marcus Walden.  Lansing was stuck in a pitchers duel vs Great Lakes.  Vancouver's pitching gave up a bunch of runs early versus Everett.

Buffalo (Off Day)

New Hampshire 2 – Portland 4

Marcus Walden had a quality start in which he lasted 7.2 innings giving up 3 earned runs.

Kevin Nolan doubled home Andy Burns in the 8th inning, and John Tolisano scored on a Jack Murphy single in the 9th inning.

Daytona – Dunedin (2 Games Rained-Out)

Lansing 1 – Great Lakes 2

Eric Brown from British Columbia had a fantastic start of 6 innings giving up one earned run.

Reliever Kramer Champlin pitched two innings giving up an earned run.

The only Lugnut run was scored in the 9th inning when Christian Lopes singled home Emilio Guerrero.

The Canadians were down 8 runs before scoring their first run in the 6th inning.  Justin James pitched two innings giving up 5 runs (4 earned).  Alonzo Gonzalez pitched 4 innings giving up 7 hits that amounted to 3 runs (2 earned).

GCL Blue Jays – GCL Yankees2

17 year old Richard Urena made his debut in the GCL after being promoted from the DSL, and was brilliant going 3-5 with a double.  Andres de Aza had his second HR of the year in the 4th inning.

this late in the year not sure a promotion is in order, but I really like what some of the older 2013 draftees have done in Vancouver so far:

1B L.Dantzler (22): 221pa, 12.2bb%, 17.2k%, 173wRC+
OF C.Frank (22): 185pa, 19.5bb%, 17.8k%, 149wRC+
C M.Reeves (22): 190pa, 13.7bb%, 15.8k%, 123wRC+

LH M.Dermody (22): 33.1ip, 10.3k/9, 0.8bb/9, 1.28fip

If there's room and/or time left, I wouldn't mind seeing these 4 guys get a look in Lansing or even Dunedin before the year is up.

Congrats to Ryan Goins, promoted to Toronto to replace the injured Izturis. It will be his major-league debut.

Does Mike Green still think that it should be Negrych?

Decent line from Stroman tonight, including a 2:8 BB:K ratio in 5 IP, but the extra-base hits remain a bit concerning. Tonight he allowed a double, a triple and a home run.

Not a great night for the farmhands otherwise (so far)...

Does anyone else find their attention shifting to the minor leagues this year?

I'm happy to see Goins getting a shot in Toronto.  And to think, just a couple of weeks ago, I was watching him dance with a side show mascot who stole his glove while he was at short and threw it into the crowd.

I couldn't help but chuckle. Those were fun times indeed.
