Sean Nolin pitched 6.2 shutout innings for the Bisons to get his first AAA win. New Hampshire split a doubleheader. Aaron Sanchez gave up six runs in the third inning and was unable to complete the inning. Lansing were almost no-hit for the fourth time. Mitch Nay had three hits in Bluefield's win. The GCL Jays won behind innings from Matt Smoral.

Vancouver lost another game in the ninth inning. They started the weekend in the playoff hunt but two ninth inning loses have dented their chances. New Hampshire also had a shot at the playoffs but they have gone 1-2 over the last 2 days. Meanwhile depleted Buffalo are 2-0.

Lehigh Valley 0  Buffalo 2

Sean Nolin pitched 6.2 shutout innings. He gave up 5 hits, 3 walks and had 4 strikeouts. Mickey Storey pitched 1.1 perfect innings, Jeremy Jeffress put two runners on in the ninth but escaped with the save.

Andy LaRoche had three hits. He doubled and scored in the fourth. In the fifth Brad Glenn hit a sac fly to score Mauro Gomez. Ryan Langerhans and Blake Gailen had 2 hits. Gailen was just signed by the Jays from an independent league where he was player of the year. AJ Jimenez was 1-3 with a walk.

New Hampshire 2  Reading 4 - game 1

New Hampshire took a 2-0 lead before letting it slip away. This was New Hampshire's second loss in 2 days to Reading and was another blow to their playoff hopes. Just like Friday New Hampshire loaded the bases in the first inning, scored a run on an Adam Loewen groundout, and was held at just the one run. New Fisher Cat Pierce Rankin homered to make it 2-0. But Reading came back for 4 runs Tyson Brummett.

The Fisher Cats had only 2 hits, both by Rankin.

 New Hampshire 3  Reading 1 - game 2, 10 innings

Once again the Fisher Cats scored in the first inning, Andy Burns doubled and scored on a passed ball. Casey Lawrence started after being just called up, he went five innings and gave up one home run. The game stayed tied until the tenth, Adam Loewen doubled in 2 runs.

After Lawrence, Randy Boone and Ryan Tepera each pitched perfect 2 innings. Tepera has been pitching much better out of the bullpen. Evan Crawford got the save. Loewen was the only hitter with 2 hits.

 Dunedin 1  Brevard County 8

Aaron Sanchez loaded the bases in the first but escaped, pitched a perfect second. The first six hitters of the third reached, one on an error. That was followed by 2 ground outs and a triple. That was te end of the night for Sanchez. Among the relievers Luis Perez pitched 2 innings.

Matt Newman homered for the Jays only run. Shane Opitz had 3 more hits to raise his average to 311.

Dayton 6 Lansing 1

Lansing did not have a hit until the eighth inning. Lansing have already been no-hit 3 times this season. The only hit was a Dan Klein home run.

Ben White had his second rough start in a row, he was charged with all the runs.

Spokane 3  Vancouver 2

Vancouver had a 2-1 lead after seven. In the eighth Dawel Lugo made an error on the lead-off hitter. That was followed by a bunt single, another bunt, and an intentional walk. Bases loaded one out. Unfortunately Garrett Pickens walked in the tying run, then got the next two outs. Then in the ninth Pickens walked the first two hitters but then got a double play. Go-ahead run on third, two out. Chuck Ghysels came on to face the hitter who reached on a bunt single in the eighth. He bunted again and was safe with the go-ahead run scoring. That was the nail in the coffin for Vancouver.

Tom Robson started and was ejected in the fifth inning, presumably for being unhappy with the strike zone. He gave up one run in that spell. Chaz Frank and Brenden Kalfus each had 3 hits. Frank had 2 RBI.

Kingsport 1  Bluefield 6

The second inning was a typical Bluefield inning. Mitch Nay and Matt Dean led off with singles. Nay scored on a wild pitch, Dean on a sac fly. Jesus Gonzalez drove in the third run. In the fifth Nay singled in the fourth run then Nico Taylor doubled in 2 more. Nay had the 3 hits, the only Jay with more than one.

Zak Wasilewski gave up one run in 4 innings. Francisco Gracesqui pitched 3 shutout innings.

GCL Phillies 0  GCL Blue Jays 1

Pitching domiated this game, there were only 7 hits between the two teams. Matt Smoral had an excellent start for the Jays, he went four innings just allowing 2 hits and more importantly no walks. Five relievers backed him up.

The only run came in the bottom of the eighth, Gabriel Cenas singled in Richard Urena who had walked. Cenas had 2 hits, Urena was 1-3.

Does Sanchez command and control his fastball, or does he still have issues? I don't know what the problem is, but I do know there's a real problem.
