Late Season Push from Rowdy

After a slow start to professional baseball, Rowdy Tellez continued to mash late in the GCL season.  Aaron Sanchez and Tom Robson had fantastic starts for Dunedin and Vancouver. 

Buffalo 3 – Rochester 2

In the final home game of the regular season for the Bisons, Sean Nolin led the Bisons to victory.  Sean pitched 5 innings, giving up one run on one hit.  Mickey Storey, John Stilson and Jeremy Jeffress pitched after Sean. 

Luis Jimenez had a pinch-hit 8th inning 2 run HR.  Mauro Gomez followed with a ground-rule double that scored Blake Gailen which ended being the game winning run.

 

Portland 9 – New Hampshire 3

Casey Lawrence pitched 5 innings giving up 3 runs.  Tyson Brummett followed pitching 3 innings giving up 3 runs as well.  Finally Evan Crawford pitched an inning giving up 3 runs.

Andy Burns, Adam Loewen, and Kevin Nolan scored the Fisher Cats three runs.  They were driven home by RBI’s from Adam Loewen, Kevin Nolan, and Pierce Rankin.

 

Dunedin 8 – Clearwater 0

Aaron Sanchez was brilliant as he pitched 7 scoreless innings giving up 4 hits, with a walk and 4 strikeouts.  Ajax Meyer and Blake McFarland each pitched a scoreless inning after.

Dunedin’s offense had 11 hits, including doubles from Derrick Chung, Mike Crouse, and Oliver Dominguez.  Mike Crouse had a grand slam in the 7th inning as well.

 

Lansing 2 – Lake County 6

Starter Ben White gave up 6 earned runs over 4.1 innings on 10 hits, and 2 walks.  Efrain Nieves pitched the next scoreless 3.2 innings.

Santiago Nessy had his 5th home run of tehe season. Dalton Pompey and Christian Lopes each had a double and a walk.

Vancouver 2 – Tri-City 0

Tom Robson was brilliant pitching 6 scoreless innings giving up 4 hits with a walk and 3 strikeouts. 

The first run was scored in the first inning when LB Danzler scored Ian Parmley on a sac fly.  Michael Reeves scored David Harris in the third inning with a single.

 

Bluefield 1 – Kingsport 9

Bluefield only managed to have 3 hits tonight, scoring one run.  The only run was scored with Matt Dean hit his 6th HR of the season in the 4th inning.

Miguel Castro made his Bluefield debut pitching 2 innings, giving up one hit, 2 unearned runs, with no walks, and 3 strikeouts.

 

GCL Blue Jays 8 – GCL Yankees 3

In the final game of the GCL regular season, Rowdy Tellez continued to mash late in the season.  The Jays faced Yankees 2013 1st round pick Ian Clarkin who was making his professional debut.  Rowdy Tellez had a first inning grand slam off Clarkin, and also had a triple later in the game. 

Matthew Smoral pitched 3 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 2 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts.
