Buffalo continued to hang in the playoff race, Andy LaRoche hit a three run home run, Kyle Drabek and four relievers held Rochester at bay.

New Hampshire were eliminated from playoff contention, Deck McGuire pitched well again but took a loss when the first hit off him in the sixth inning scored three runs.

Daniel Norris just allowed one hit in five innings in his debut for Dunedin. Dustin McGowan and Steve Delabar also pitched in that game.

Lansing had 17 hits and 8 runs, too little too late.

Vancouver's playoff chase took a hit with a loss. Bluefield have played poorly of late and start their playoffs today with Jairo Labourt on the bump.

Two Jays teams are in the playoffs. The Bisons tragic number is 2, but they are playing the team ahead of them, Rochester. Obviously they have to win as a loss would eliminate them. Vancouver lost and are now tied with Spokane for a playoff spot although Vancouver hold the tie-break.

Buffalo 6  Rochester 3

The Bisons trailed 3-0 headed to the sixth where they exploded for five runs. The seventh started with a lead-off walk, followed by a single and an error. Luis Jimenez singled in 2 runs then Andy LaRoche hit a three run homer. Another lead off walk in the eighth led to the sixth run.

Kyle Drabek pitched four innings and was charged with one run. He did not walk anyon and had six K's. Chien-Ming Wang gave up 2 runs before Scott Gracey, Brad Lincoln and Jeremy Jeffress shut down Rochester. LaRoche and Mauro Gomez each had 2 hits.

New Hampshire 0  Binghamton 3

Deck McGuire was perfect through three innings and hadn't given up a hit until the sixth. The sixth led off with an error by Andy Burns followed by a walk. A sac bunt moved the runners then the decision was made to walk the next hitter to set up the double play. McGuire's first hit allowed of the night followed, a double that cleared the bases. McGuire gave up 2 hits, the Mets had just two hits but that was enough.

The Fisher Cats had 4 hits, double the Mets.

Clearwater 0  Dunedin 3

The Dunedin pitchers threw a one hitter. Daniel Norris pitched the first five and din't concede a hit until the fifth. Norris walked two but only had one K. Dustin McGowan and Steve Delabar were among the four relievers who pitched an inning apiece.

The Jays scored a run in the first, Matt Newman doubled home Jon Berti. The other two runs came in the sixth. Newly promoted Emilio Guerrero doubled as did Derrick Chung. Michael Crouse completed the scoring with a triple. MILB game story with quotes from Norris.

Lansing 8  Lake County 5

Seventeen hits for the Lugnuts whose bats have come alive over the last ten days. Carlos Ramirez had 4 hits including a home run. Jason Leblebijian, Dwight Smith and Santiago Nessy each had 3 hits.

Tri-City 5  Vancouver 3

Kyle Anderson pitched innings, the third inning was the bad one.  He gave up 3 runs on 3 hits, a hit batter and an error.  Vancouver clawed back a couple of runs. In the fourth innings Seth Connor singled in a run and the bases were loaded with one out but David Harris hit into a double play. Harris reached on a strikeout, wild pitch and later scored on a passed ball in the seventh. In the eighth Tri-City scored two off Scott Silverstein and Matt Johnson. Harris singled and scored the final run in the ninth on a ground out.

Harris was the only Canadian with two hits.

Bluefield 5  Kingsport 8

The Jays trailed 3-0 in the first, fought back to lead 5-3 but gave up 5 runs in the later innings to lose. Joe Lovecchio made his first start for the Jays and gave up 3 runs early. He pitched well for the next four innings. Justin D'Allesandro as hit around the park for 5 runs in two innings.
