Anthony Gose and Juan Francisco each had a hit in the first and second innings to jump start the Bisons to a lead they never gave up. Kyle Drabek got the win although his numbers were only average. New Hampshire were soundly beaten as were Dunedin although Emilio Guerrero hit his first home run of the year. Dwight Smith was shut out. Lansing had a lead headed to the ninth but blew up good. Carlos Ramirez had three hits.

Pawtucket 4 Buffalo 7

Buffalo led 5-1 after two innings. Anthony Gose doubled in the first and second and finished 2-4. Juan Francisco singled and tripled in the first two innings and finished 3-4. Francisco had three RBI and was a home run short of the cycle.

Kyle Drabek started and got the win. He pitched five innings and conceded three runs with 5 K's. On the negative side Pawtucket had seven hits and two walks in those five innings. Bobby Korecky and Ryan Tepera each pitched two innings allowing one hit.

Binghamton 7 New Hampshire 0

New Hampshire had just three hits, all singles. There are a lot of ugly batting averages on the Fisher Cats. Kenny Wilson is hitting 242 and he has the third best average in the lineup.

Scott Copeland was the hard luck loser, he was tagged for a solo home run in six innings. The bullpen arms, Tony Davis, Wil Browning and Gregory Infante each gave up runs.

Brevard County 5 Dunedin 2

Jesse Hernandez gave up two runs in each of the first two innings to put the Jays in a 4-0 hole that they never could recover from, facing prospect Jed Bradley.

Dunedin had seven hits, Emilio Guerrero had two hits including his first home run. Dalton Pompey and Matt Newman also had two hits. Dwight Smith went o-fer and dropped his average to 417.

Cedar Rapids 10 Lansing 7

Lansing trailed most of the game until they scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 7-6 lead. But Jimmy Cordero coughed up four runs in the top of the ninth to lose the game. Carlos Ramirez led the Lugnuts with three hits, Mitch Nay had two, Matt Dean one and Dickie Thon none to end his hitting streak.

Adonys Cardona started and three of his four innings were very good. However in the second he walked a couple of hitters with two outs then two singles brought in three runs. But two hits and two walks were it in four innings. He struck out three. Chase De Jong also gave up three runs in four innings but he was tagged for seven hits, but no walks. Three of the hits off De Jong were a home run and two triples so when he was hit he was hit hard.

In addition to Gose's rather nice start to the season with the stick, he has walked five times and only struck out four times. A promising sign.

Colby is certainly making the transition at centre field less painful.

After not striking out previously this year, Smith wore the golden sombrero yesterday.  Hopefully things get back on track tonight.
