Ricky Romero set a record on Friday, he walked nine hitters in 2.2 innings. Romero threw 49 balls and 25 strikes. Kyle Drabek had the opposite problem in the nightcap, he allowed twelve hits in five plus innings. The Bisons lost both games. New Hampshire's bullpen blew a lead and the game. Lansing's Tom Robson had a bad game.
Dunedin were the lone winners. Daniel Norris pitched 6.2 excellent innings and Derrick Chung drove in a pair of runs.
Gwinett 4 Buffalo 1 - game 1
Ricky Romero pitched a no-hitter for 2.2 innings, but five straight walks in the second inning led to two runs. Three more walks in the third ended Ricky's night. Chad Jenkins allowed the other two runs.
The Bisons had just two hits, Andy LaRoche doubled in the seventh and scored the only run.
Gwinnett 9 Buffalo 3 - game 2
Kyle Drabek threw strikes but too many of them down the middle. In five innings plus he fooled no one as the Braves teed him up for 12 hits and 8 runs.
Dan Johnson homered in the second. Jack Murphy singled in Brad Glenn in the sixth and then Andy LaRoche scored on a wild pitch. LaRoche was the only hitter with two hits.
Binghamton 8 New Hampshire 6
Scott Copeland was in trouble through the first three innings and the Cats trailed 4-0. But then they scored six runs in the third capped by a grand slam from Andy Fermin. All 6 runs were unearned. Copeland settled down after that and his next three innings were better.
In the eighth Ricky Bleier put a couple of runners on and Dustin Antolin came in to throw gas on the fire. Antolin allowed four straight hits and five in all to turn an 8-6 lead into a 10-8 deficit. Antolin dominates A ball but has struggled at AA. New Hampshire had five hits, Kenny Wilson had two.
Dunedin 3 Bradenton 2
Daniel Norris had an excellent, and long, start. He pitched 6.2 innings with 88 pitches, the Jays have perhaps lengthened his leash. Norris didn't allow a hit until the fifth and then gave up three ground ball hits and a run in the sixth. Chris King from baseball prospectus was tweeting from the game and was impressed with Norris. Norris did tire at the end but I believe this was the longest outing of Norris's career so that was understandable.
The Jays faced Pirates prospect Tyler Glasnow. They didn't score until the sixth when Derrick Chung singled in a run. The Pirates tied the game against Norris until Chung drove in another run in the eighth. Bradenton immediately tied the game against Chad Girodo and Wil Browning. But KC Hobson blooped in the go ahead run in the ninth. Hobson, Chung, Nick Baligod and Jorge Flores had two hits each.
Dayton 13 Lansing 2
Tom Robson had been showing signs of improvement but not on this night. He went 3.1 innings but was charged with seven runs. Robert Espinosa followed but did no better.
Santiago Nessy was 2-2 with a double and a home run plus he scored both Lugnut runs.
