Buffalo, NY - All four Bison runs came in the first three innings. Brad Glenn knocked home the first with an RBI single. Andy LaRoche led off the second with a home run. Adron Chambers also did the leadoff home run thing in the third and LaRoche followed with a run-scoring base hit. Chambers had three hits on the night while LaRoche, Glenn and A.J. Jimenez had two apiece. Glenn threw out a runner at second from right field.Esmil Rogers (2-1) pitched five shutout innings and worked around four hits and three walks with one strikeout. He divided his 10 outs in play evenly on the ground and in the air. Kyle Drabek was whacked for a two-run homer in his two innings of three-hit relief. Luis Ayala pitched a perfect eighth and Ryan Tepera allowed one hit but struck out one in the ninth for his second save.
Portland 3 New Hampshire 2
Portland, ME - The Fisher Cats opened the scoring in the second on a Matt Newman RBI double and Jonathan Jones capped it off with a solo homer in the ninth. Newman followed with a one-out triple but was left stranded. Newman and Kevin Nolan led the Fisher Cats attack with three hits apiece with Newman a homer short of the cycle. Jones also reached base three times by adding a single and a base on balls. Andy Burns added a double.
Austin Bibens-Dirkx (2-2) lasted just two innings, surrendering a home run among his two runs and four hits but struck out two. Richard Bleier gave up the eventual winning run on another long ball but soaked up five innings, scattering four hits and a hit by pitch while striking out one. The lefty was in a democratic mood as all 11 of his outs in play were on the ground. John Anderson had one hit, one walk and one strikeout on his pitching line in the eighth.
Brevard County 7 Dunedin 4
Dunedin, FL - Taylor Cole (5-4) was crushed for seven runs in the first two innings by the Brewers affiliate. Three of those runs were unearned after two errors by Gustavo Pierre at third base and Dwight Smith Jr. in left. Cole did last five innings but surrendered eight hits and three walks and uncorked three wild pitches. Efrain Nieves chipped in three scoreless frames and scattered three hits and a strikeout. Kramer Champlin had a clean ninth with one K.
Dunedin got on the board in the third when Peter Mooney lifted a sacrifice fly to score a Santiago Nessy double. L.B Dantzler singled home a run in the sixth and earned another RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. Smith Jr. had two hits and threw out a runner at second.
Hillsboro 4 Vancouver 0
Hillsboro, OR - Jairo Labourt (0-1) had a lot of twos on his pitching line. That was the amount of runs, hits, walks and hit by pitches he allowed in five innings against the Diamondbacks affiliate. He did strike out six just to be different. All seven of his outs in play were on the grass. Tim Mayza and Joe Lovecchio gave up the other runs in their 1.2 and 1.1 inning outings respectively.
Ryan McBroom had two of the five Vancouver hits. Tim Locastro got aboard twice with a single and a walk and he also stole a base. Ryan Metzler took one for the team and also swiped a bag. Michael De La Cruz and Sean Hurley had the other hits. Hurley's was of the pinch-hit variety. Franklin Barreto was 0-for-4.
Bluefield 7 Kingsport 2
Kingsport, TN - Rowdy Tellez got the Jays in flight early with a two-run single in the first inning and another RBI base hit in the third. Richard Urena knocked in another run with a base hit in the fourth. Anthony Alford smacked a two-run homer in the seventh. Aaron Attaway scored another run with a fly ball in the eighth. Urena and Alford each had three hits at the top of the order with Urena drawing a walk and Alford getting hit by a pitch.Matt Smoral dominated the Mets over three innings by striking out eight batters. The big lefty yielded just a hit and three walks. Francisco Rios (1-0) served up a two-run dinger but pitched five innings, giving up four hits and a walk. His strikeout and groundout totals were five. Chase Wellbrock mopped things up with a two-hit ninth.
GCL Blue Jays 7 GCL Pirates 2
Bradenton, FL - The Jays raced out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning on a Trey Pascazi RBI single, a Lane Thomas triple and a Yeltsin Gudino sac fly. Deiferson Barreto knocked home another run in the fourth. Andres De Aza brought home two more runs with a single in the eighth. Barreto led the hit parade with three while Thomas added a double for a two-hit game. Juan Kelly also made a couple of dents in the hit column. Matt Morgan was 0-for-3 with a walk. Pascazi stole his first base of the year.Jonathan Waldling started this one and fired a pair of scoreless frames with a hit and a walk. Hansel Rodriguez was not so hot as he gave up the only two runs on two hits and a walk over two frames. Turner Lee (1-0) pitched two innings of one-hit ball while ringing up three batters. Francisco Diaz walked a pair but struck out the side in the eighth. Jordan Romano overcame four walks and a hit over two scoreless innings that included one punchout.
DSL Braves 7 DSL Blue Jays 0
San Pedro de Macoris, DR - Jose Nova (0-1) coughed up three runs over two frames on six hits but struck out three. Yonardo Herdenez was burned for two unearned runs over three frames but also struck out three and induced seven groundball outs. Wilmin Lara and Manuel Cordova also surrendered runs in 1.0 and 1.1 innings respectively. Only Pedro Diaz was not scored upon in two-thirds of an inning.
Rodrigo Orozco had a two-hit day. Eddy Alcantara singled and stole a base. Jesus Severino had a hit but made four of the Jays five errors at short to run his total to 18.
