Our Future Game representatives had solid nights down in AA, but Raul Valdes was the star tonight pitching Buffalo to victory.
Syracuse 1 Buffalo 3
Raul Valdes was exceptional over seven shutout innings. Steve Delabar followed, getting in a scoreless inning, though one would like to see the strike out return to his game at some point. Ryan Schimpf had two hits including a homerun, leading the way offensively as Buffalo topped a good Syracuse team.
New Hampshire 5 Harrisburg 3
Dalton Pompey has seemed to have found his feet at AA—tonight was his fourth consecutive game with two hits by my count. Daniel Norris continued his impressive season too by pitching five shutout innings. Coming off his first real shellacking of the season, Norris deserves some credit for bouncing back and pitching his team to victory despite struggling with the walk. Andy Burns has also really come alive this month and continued his impressive month by homering and singling.
Charlotte 2 Dunedin 1
Rehabbing Sean Nolin was apparently up to 94 mph, but walked two and allowed two earned runs over four and two-thirds of work. Dwight Smith Jr. collected his seventh triple of the year.
Lansing 3 Peoria 2
Lansing came from behind in dramatic fashion tonight, scoring all three of their runs in the top of the ninth while down to their last out. Matt Dean and Mitch Nay had two hits apiece and Chase De Jong pitched four innings of two run baseball.
Hillsboro 7 Vancouver 3 Game One
Roemon Fields did not steal base, but typically Franklin Barreto and Max Pentecost did collect hits. Alberto Tirado quietly put together a nice few innings of work there at the end of this game.
Hillsboro 2 Vancouver 5 Game Two
Again Fields did not steal base—odd. Barreto got his hit and Ryan McBroom had two in the heart of the order as the Canadians split the doubleheader.
Elizabethton 3 Bluefield 2
Richard Urena had a hit and Rowdy Tellez collected two to go along with two RBIs as the Bluefield squad fell to the Twins’ affiliate.
GCL Phillies 2 GCL Blue Jays 9
Sean Reid-Foley pitched two and two-thirds shutout innings and Lane Thomas doubled and tripled at the top of the order to push the GCL squad to victory. Heck, even Matt Morgan doubled to cap a good showing for some of our 2014 draft crop.
GCL Blue Jays 1 GCL Phillies 12
Angel Perdomo didn’t get out of the first inning and the GCL squad left their bats at home for the second of two today, save maybe Trey Pascazi who singled three times. Nonetheless the GCL Blue Jays were walloped in this one.
