Canadians win via Wild Pitch!

On Wednesday the Jays affiliates went 4-2, with 3 PPD games coming for New Hampshire, and two for the GCL Jays.  Sean Nolin had possibly his best start of the year for Buffalo.  Franklin Barreto continued to hit for Vancouver, and Chase Mallard gave the Canadians a strong start in a 14 inning game.

Norfolk 3 – Buffalo 2

Edwin Encarnacion was 1-4 in his second rehab game, and Cole Gillepsie hit his 2nd HR of the season.

Sean Nolin gave a quality start, in which he pitched 6 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts.  Ryan Tepera and Rob Rasmussen each pitched a scoreless innings allowing Buffalo to head into the 9th with a 2-0 lead.  Bobby Korecky came in for the save and had a rare bad outing allowing 3 runs while only getting 1 out.

 

Richmond – New Hampshire (PPD – Rain)

 

Dunedin 9 – Clearwater 5 (10 Innings)

Jesse Hernandez allowed 3 earned runs over 5 innings pitched.  Hunter Carnevale pitched a scoreless 6th and Danny Barnes pitched a scoreless 7th.  Danny Barnes gave up 2 runs in the 8th, but followed up with a scoreless 9th and 10th finishing with a line of 3IP 2H 2R 2ER 0BB 3SO.

Dwight Smith was 2-2, with a double, 3 walks, while scoring 3 runs.  Kevin Patterson hit his 11th HR, and LB Dantzler hit his 1st HR with Dunedin.

 

Fort Wayne 2 – Lansing 3

Matt Dean and David Harris each were 2-4 with a double.  The winning run was scored in the bottom of the 7th on a Fort Wayne wild pitch which scored Daniel Klein.

Brett Powers got the start and pitched 5 scoreless innings.  Jimmy Cordero allowed 2 runs, one earned over 1.1 innings pitched.

 

Everett 6 – Vancouver 7 (14 Innings)

In this extra inning affair, the Canadians went through 8 pitchers.  They started with Chase Mallard who pitched 5 scoreless innings.  Jonathon Wandling pitched the 6th while allowing 1 earned run.  Brett Barber gave up 4 runs in the 8th.  Jose Fernandez and Phil Kish each had pitched 2 scoreless innings.  Michael Kraft pitched 2 innings while allowing one run.  Adaric Kelly pitched a scoreless 14th and got credited with the win upping his record to 3-1.

For the position players, two of the Canadians managed to have double digit hits.  Franklin Barreto was 3-6, with 2 doubles, 2 walks, stealing 2 bases, and took 2 walks.  Gunnar Heidt had a strong game as well, going 4-6 with a triple.

Bluefield 3 – Princeton 7

Rowdy Tellez had 2 hits, including a triple, and Lane Thomas had 2 hits in his 5th game with Bluefield.

Jesus Tinoco pitched 3 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 2 hits, with 5 walks and 6 strikeouts.  Carlos Ramirez allowed 3 earned over 2 innings, Alberto Guzman allowed one run over 2 innings, and Kamakani Usui pitched a scoreless 8th inning.
