Jeff Francis and Andrew Albers combined to throw eleven shutout innings against Pawtucket on Wednesday. The Bisons swept the doubleheader. New Hampshire lost despite nine strikeouts from Matt Boyd, who kept his ERA at zero. Dunedin had a walk off hit from Roemen Fields. Lansing scored in the top of the ninth and held on for the win. Chase De Jong had another good start.

Pawtucket 0 Buffalo 2 - game 1

Jeff Francis was excellent, five innings, five K's, two hits and two walks. Bo Schultz was very good too, two perfect innings with three punch-outs.

Ryan Goins was the hitting hero, he drove in both runs with a bases loaded single. Goins had two of the Bisons four hits. Although it's early, Goins is hitting .389, continuing his better hitting from the spring. Caleb Gindl, one of the hottest hitters in the spring, struck out all three times up and is hitting .091.

Pawtucket 0 Buffalo 2 - game 2

Just like Jeff Francis, Andrew Albers dominated. Six innings, four hits, one walk, five K's. Bobby Korecky pitched the seventh.

The offense for the Bisons came in the first inning, Brad Glenn doubled off the wall to drive in both runs. The Bisons had six hits, Glenn and Andy Wilkins had two hits each. Goins went 0-2, dropping his average to .350.

Reading 4 New Hampshire 1

Matt Boyd pitched well, very well, but just not good enough. In five innings he only gave up one hit and struck out nine. He walked two and one of those came around to score. Philly prospect Roman Quinn led off with a walk, then Boyd balked him to second. With two outs and Quinn on third Boyd got a ground ball but Jorge Flores booted it and the run scored. It was unearned and Boyd's ERA remains at zero. Boyd's second year in AA is starting much better than his first. Greg Burke gave up the second run and Dustin Antolin the other two.

Andy Burns homered for the only Fisher Cat run. Burns had two hits but his BA is .238. It's early but Burns needs to dominate AA to re-establish his prospect status. Dwight Smith had another hit to keep his BA at .292.

Bradenton 5 Dunedin 6

Dunedin scored three runs in the seventh to take a two run lead. But new Jay Murphy Smith gave up a run in the eighth and Wil Browning let Bradenton tie it in the ninth. The starter was Brad Allen who gave up nine hits and three runs.

The winning run scored when Roemen Fields delivered a two out single to score Christian Lopes. Lopes and Fields each had two hits as did Mitch Nay and Dawel Lugo. Fields and Lugo each had a triple. Another Canadian, Mike Reeves, put Dunedin ahead in the seventh with a two run double.

Lansing 2 Great Lakes 1

Another pitching exhibition with just ten hits between the two teams. Dickie Thon had a hand in both runs, he singled to drive in Gunnar Heidt in the second inning. And he reached on an error to bring home DJ Davis in the ninth inning of a tied game. The Lugnuts did have six hits, Rowdy Tellez came to life with two hits.

Chase De Jong delivered good start number two. He went five innings, gave up the one run, and had five K's. Jose Fernandez was good in relief, he went 2.2 innings with four K's. Phil Kish got the save.
