The Vancouver Canadians were looking for redemption after dropping the series opener against Eugene at Nat Bailey Stadium Saturday night.

The tone was set for the day when the scoreboard at Nat Bailey Stadium flashed the good news about Toronto blanking Tampa Bay 4-0 at The Dome.

Clinton Hollon delivers a pitch in the first inning. He gave up a single on the first pitch of the game but struck out the next batter with a 91 mile per hour fastball on his way to the first of three shutout frames.

Catcher Ryan Hissey must have known something good was coming in the bottom of the first.

Gunnar Heidt grinds out an at-bat against Emeralds starter Carson Sands by fouling off a number of pitches before getting a base hit to right field.

Andrew Guillotte claps his hands after advancing to second on Heidt's base hit. Guillotte started the frame with a single to right.

After Justin Atkinson singled to load up the bases, Lane Thomas goes the other way for a ground-rule double to right to score Andrew Guillotte and Gunnar Heidt for a 2-0 Vancouver lead.

Sean Hurley keeps the line moving by lining a single up to the middle to score Justin Atkinson to make it a 3-0 game.

Carl Wise went up the gut for a base hit to plate two more runs. Wise was the seventh straight C's hitter to get on base after Ryan Hissey was hit by a pitch.

Lane Thomas tries to get around Emeralds pitcher Carson Sands on his way to home plate.

Carson Sands appears to give Lane Thomas a dirty look as Thomas and Sean Hurley would score on the play to increase Vancouver's lead to 5-0.
