I voted thumbs up. We need good defense at 2B, SS & 3B. We have it now with Izturis/Hech, Escobar & Lawrie. In case of injury we still have good defense. I remember EE & J Nix, that was terrible.
If you have an injury in the playoff at any of those positions you want good defense. Playoff teams will have good pitching anyway which could shut down your offensive stars. Defense will show up almost every day IMO.

We had 45 year-old Omar Vizquel as our main utility man and the $6.75 MM Kelly Johnson as our 2B last year. Maicer Izturis is better than both. Three years with an option year is negligible and $3.0 MM is a bargain. A.A. did very well here.
