Losses for three teams and a suspended game for Dunedin, not much good news on Sunday. The big story is the promotions for the second half with Khal Stephen, Victor Arias, Sam Shaw and Edward Duran moving up. Given the break I take a look at some DSL hitters too.

Buffalo 4 Scranton 5

New Hampshire 1 Somerset 5

Vancouver 6 Hillsboro 7

Dunedin 0 Palm Beach 0 - 5 innings, suspended

Three Stars

Third Star - Cutter Coffey

Second Star - Christian Bethancourt

First Star - Grant Rogers

Boxes

NOTES

Hayden Juenger started for Buffalo but Lazaro Estrada was the first reliever, not the starter. Estrada went four innings, Scranton scored three off him.

Christian Bethancourt hit a two run home run and a double.

Grant Rogers had a nice start, six innings, six hits, one walk, four K's. Rogers has now made ten starts for NH. He has a 3.38 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. The one stat that isn't where you would like it to be is his strikeouts. He has 36 K's in 56 innings.

The Cats had only two hits, one of them was a Charles McAdoo home run. His July OPS is 1.078.

Gage Stanifer started but only pitched three innings. I am not sure why, perhaps the relievers needed to get some work in before the all-star break. Stanifer gave up two hits and one walk in his three innings. He used 53 pitches and struck out two.

The C's had eight hits, from seven hitters. Cutter Coffey had two hits and two RBI.

Silvano Hechavarria went four innings for Dunedin. He struck out three. Hechavarria is a 22 year old Cuban who just signed last year. In this game he threw 65 pitches, the top three were a cutter, 4 seamer and a sinker. Those three were 54 of the 65 pitches. He had 6 whiffs. The 4 seamer and sinker averaged 94 mph.

We are over a month into the DSL season and its time to take a look at how the players are doing. After giving Enmanuel Bonilla $4M in 2023, the Jays spread the money around in 2024. The top three signings were Franklin Rojas, Angel Guzman and Andres Arias. Arias has progressed the farthest, he is playing for Dunedin. He is not hitting for average but it showing some power. Rojas is the leading hitter on the DSL Blue team. His OPS is .987, excellent for the 18 year old catcher. Guzman is not doing well, he is hitting .205 in the DSL. Rafael Flores is another 2024 signing who has an .823 OPS for the Blue team. Nestor Urbina is a 2B with an .858 OPS.

In 2025 the Jays top signing was Christopher Polanco for $2.3M. Polanco is hitting .157 and has 32 K's in 83 at-bats. He is young but thats not good start. Kennew Blanco was going to sign for the Jays in 2024 but his age was incorrect so he had to wait until this year. He is hitting .254. The best hitter on the Red team is Juan Sanchez, a 3B with an .891 OPS. Diego Arce, a 17 year old Mexican catcher, has an .881 OPS.

It's hard to pick any pitchers from the stat line, we will have to wait to see who comes to North America.
