NOTES

New Hampshire were shutout with two hits. Aaron Parker singled and Alexis Hernandez doubled, thats it. Jackson Wentworth started and gave up three home runs and six runs in five innings.

For Vancouver Bryce Chance led off the game with a single. A wild pitch, a groundout and a sac fly made it 1-0 for the C's. Unfortunately Troy Guthrie let Eugene tie the game in the bottom of the first.

Chance singled again to lead off the third. A hit batter and a walk loaded the bases. Maddox Latta singled in one run then Max Viera hit a grand slam. Latta added a three run home run in the seventh and ended the game 3-4 with four RBI.

Troy Guthrie went five innings, two runs on eight hits and he struck out eight.

Jake Cook is hot right now. He led off the Dunedin game with a solo home run. Later in the first, after a couple of hit batters, Ryan Cooney singled in the second run. Ryan Franden and Raimundo De Los Santos went back to back with doubles in the second inning to make it 3-0. Dean West, Franden and De Los Santos singled to score run number four in the third inning.

Brandon Barriera started and went four good innings, three hits, three walks, no runs. He had just one strikeout and had six ground ball outs to two fly balls. When Barriera left Joe Mantiply imploded and soon the Jays were down 5-4. But in the sixth Jake Bennett tripled in two runs and Cooney hit a sac fly. Aldo Gaxiola added a solo home run in the eighth and Cooney doubled and scored in the ninth. Cooney and De Los Santos had three hits each.

The DSL Jays played their third, and last, round robin game and lost. Having lost they are tied with the Royals with a 2-1 record. I cannot find the tiebreaker but I assume its the head to head record and if that's the case their season is done, and it ended badly. They came to the ninth trailing 2-1, they scored two runs to take the lead and had a runner thrown out at home plate to end the inning. Off to the bottom of the ninth with three outs required. The first two hitters walked then came a bunt. The Jays catcher threw the ball away, both runs scored, and the Jays lost.
