Traded for Who?

I've seen some howlers in my day, some truly baffling trades. But Kevin Millwood straight-up for Johnny Estrada is climbing that list with a bullet.

For those just tuning in, Millwood is 28, arbitration-eligible and coming off 18-8, 3.24. Estrada was a catcher for Scranton-Wilkes-Barre who went .279-11-67 in 2002 with a 26/53 BB/K ratio in 434 ABs and who'll be 27 in June. I would very much love to hear from anyone who can explain this deal to me without the phrase "John Schuerholz has lost his mind."

Not only did the Braves give Millwood away, they gave him to their chief divisional rival and the team likeliest to finish ahead of them in the standings next season and for many seasons to come. Unbe-frickin-lievable.

I sure would have liked to have seen Millwood in a Blue Jays uniform, but JP probably offered players of value and confused the Braves. Merry Christmas, Ed Wade.
