Three Run Homer League

First, apologies for not writing more here at Batter's Box, something I hope to rectify in the coming weeks.

Second, since Coach has advertised for openings in his fantasy league, let me abuse my vast array of power in this forum to advertise for prospective owners in my sim league, the Three Run Homer League, which is heading into its eighth year of operation.

The TRHL uses Diamond Mind Baseball as its engine, a fantastic game similar to but more sophisticated than the Strat-O-Matic card game of old. We are a salary-cap based keeper league with 24 teams, and use each previous year's "season disk" to simulate the season (so this coming year will be the 2002 season). This year's draft of new players and free agents is set to begin at the end of January, and we normally play the season in approximate time with the major league year.

We will likely have a few spots open for new owners, as at least one is departing the league for pastures new. Check out the league's website to get a flavour for the league; unfortunately, the rosters have recently disappeared but they should be restored shortly.

Owners must own a registered copy of Diamond Mind and the 2002 season disk (which costs about $55 US all told), but the league itself is free. My own Halifax Whitecaps have just concluded a disappointing 2001 playoffs; we were the defending TRHL World Series champions and had the best record in the National League but suffered a 4-0 setback to the Pottsville Yuenglings (managed by Joe Dimino and Batter's Box poster Robert Dudek) in this year's NLCS. I thirst for revenge of the bloodiest kind... to Kevin Olsen I shall do such things, I know not what they are, but they shall be the terrors of the earth.

If you are at all interested (in the league, as opposed to revenge) send me an e-mail at tybalt4@yahoo.com and I will get in touch with you and answer any questions you may have, or you can ask them here in the Comments section. We don't know yet how many new owners we will need.

This league is tremendous fun, and has a relatively stable group of owners including some who have been with the league since its inception in 1995.
