The Hall of Merit is a fascinating project being run by my friend Joe "Scruff" Dimino and is being hosted by Baseball Primer. We are re-voting for the Hall of Fame "as it ought to have been done", and are beginning with a first vote in 1906.
It's going to be (and already is) a very interesting project; a ton of information has been exchanged so far about 19th-century baseball and I have learned a tremendous amount myself. There is a voters list which you can join here and once you are on the list you will be able to vote. There are a few rules (basically, you are voting on who the best players were, and not on off-field matters) and you have a lot of freedom to design your ballots the way you see it. There will be quite a bit of discussion that takes place before and after each ballot.
The 1906 vote will be soon, and we are hoping to vote weekly - which may eventually slow down a bit, but certainly still makes this a lengthy, two-year project. It will be fun, it will be interesting, and if you like to talk baseball, especially baseball history, I recommend you come by to check it out.
