BBFL: New Leader (Again)

Three weeks of play, three different first-place teams in our Yahoo league. I'm aware that my sudden rise to the top of the standings is about as significant as the K.C. Royals' fast start. My pitching (except for Cliff Politte) has been superb, as Jason found out in a 10-1 shellacking -- 61 IP, 3 W, 5 SV, 2.21 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 3.07 K/BB should earn a few category wins in most matchups, and this week it was good enough for a 6-0 split. Heading into a collision with Billies Bashers, with the Gashouse Gorillas on deck, no trash will be talked here -- I'm not overconfident, just cautiously optimistic.

Even a lopsided HtH victory can be extremely close; one big day by a Jick's Rays hitter and one great start by a pitcher could have turned this "rout" into a split:

All 20 owners are active, which is great. What surprises me is how busy people have been. I'm usually the league leader in "Moves" because I like to troll for free agent bargains, but not in this group -- five owners have made more transactions, and I'm tied with three others near the middle of the pack. We've made a lot of deals, probably because there's not much help on the waiver wire. I'd still talk trade, especially if someone wants a closer and is willing to pay market value. Could be a 2-for-1, I'd move Baez or Julio and an OF (Bradley? Mench?) for one better hitter or a decent starter.
