Someone leans in my direction, quizzing on my story selection

1. Fordin Notes: Bruce Chen and Jayson Werth.

2. Fordin's longer piece "Only a matter of time for prospects" is an examination of Hill vs. Adams. Seeing as they won't be in the majors for at least a year, it's not quite as enthralling as "Monkey vs. Robot", but when you set your sights too high, you're likely to be disappointed.

3. Larry Millson notes that "Miller's recovery gains some steam". Will Miller be the engine that drives the Jays to the playoffs? Probably not, but who doesn't love a good James Watt reference?

4. Since puns are the lowest form of humour, I'll have to hunt down Millson's headlinewriter. The title "Cash registers pitchers' praise" is a crime against humanity. Cash should change his last name to something cool, like Moffatt, and I'll change mine to something even cooler, like February.

5. Jeff Blair found an issue that you don't hear about all that much: Carlos Tosca's contract runs out at the end of the year. Given the composition of the Jays clubhouse, I don't think that Tosca's "lame-duck status as manager of the Toronto Blue Jays" is a big deal, but in is an issue. How many wins do you think it will take for Tosca to keep his job? Mark me down for 85.

6. Geoff Baker talks to a player we haven't heard much about in Spring Training, in "The old joke's on Kerry [Ligtenberg]". Ligtenberg shouldn't feel too bad, that's also what Ivey paid to get me.

7. Richard Griffin points out that "Spring is no time to worry about winning". He's right, spring is the time to worry about Spring Cleaning. Fortunately About.com has many wonderful articles on the matter. Just make sure you have your Google Toolbar with pop-up stopper installed!

8. Mike Ganter has another article on Simon Pond in "Canuck to make Blue Jays debut". I hope Pond makes it, he's had to struggle to get this far. But am I the only one who doesn't care how many Canadians the Jays have? Well, I'm for it if it boosts attendance and gets more loud fans in the Sky Dome. At any rate, maybe it's just me, but I'm really not all that interested in other people's passports.
