Jays Roundup - I'm Not Expecting to Grow Flowers in a Desert

I am expecting to win a coffee at "Roll Up The Rim" one of these days.

  1. Fordin Notes on yesterday's game. Is today's game against the Phils available anywhere? I haven't checked.

  2. In what should have been the theme for today's articles, MLB.com's Spencer Fordin writes that "Back where he started: Hentgen makes first spring start for Jays". I'm a little surprised there weren't more articles like this one.

  3. The National Post has the Canadian Press article "Yankees hammer Blue Jays" on yesterday's game. Which makes me think of "If I Had a Hammer". Which then makes me think of "If I Had a Gun". The human brain is a weird thing.

  4. Here's the account of the game from my hometown London Free Press.

  5. The Yankees perspective of the game, courtesy of the Journal News.

  6. Geoff Baker's piece "Homer's back in business" is on everyone's favourite throw-in to the Wells-Clemens trade. Bush may be a nice guy, but I have to admit I'm pretty happy the Toronto Blue Jays have become a local in the No Homers union.

  7. Richard Griffin compares the Yankees coaching staff to that of the Jays in "Even Yankees' coaches all-star material". Look for next week's article on how the Red Sox get a wide choice of Gatorade flavours, while the Jays are stuck with orange.

  8. In a personal interest story, the Canadian Press has the piece "Jays coach Tosca, Yanks hitting guru Mattingly renew friendship". Despite being one of the Yankee haters Richard Griffin talked about, I've always admired Mattingly. I wish his '84 Topps rookie card was worth more, though.

Any predictions on today's score?
