A 3-3 tie in the 8th quickly turned to a blowout as Ligtenberg failed to retire any of the 5 batters he faced. The result was a 9-3 loss to the Red Sox that snapped the Jays home winning streak at 6 wins.

* Sun - Blue Jays Watch. Simon Pond will platoon with Reed Johnson, getting most of the ABs as he's lefthanded. If you're going to figure out if Pond is a player it's better to play him regularly than starting him every 5th game and then sending him down after a few ABs like his last trip to Toronto.
On the other side of things, the Blue Jays seem determined to have Reed Johnson be no more than a 4th OF. This is the second time he's being platooned and the first was with a utility infielder. While it's probably his best role for the team in the long run (with Gross and Rios joining the team no later than next season) I would think that there's a team out there that would value him more than that and trade for him.
