Or you're gonna get hurt yourself
Someone's gonna tell you lies
Cut you down to size

You'd think the Jays wouldn't hit too many solo homers as they've done a good job of clogging the basepaths over the last few weeks. Yesterday both of the Jays runs came on solo shots, as they lost to Jamie Moyer and the Mariners 6-2.

  1. You want details on the game? Try Chris Hester's "Road woes mount for Blue Jays" (nice picture of Hentgen), Jim Street's "Ichiro a hit in Mariners' win", Larry Millson's "Seattle gets to Hentgen early", Geoff Baker's "M's down reeling Blue Jays", AP's "Suzuki sinks Jays" and Mike Rutsey's "Jays left stranded".

  2. Fordin Notes (by Chris Hester) on Delgado's ribcage and Alex Rios' first week in the majors. It looks like Delgado's injury is a bit worse than reported yesterday, so we may not see the big slugger until the weekend. In a given lemons/make lemonade type situation, I hope the Jays use this situation to give more playing time for Simon Pond and Howie Clark.

  3. In "Seattle battles to right ship after slow start" Larry Millson puts it bluntly "But if the Blue Jays have stumbled, the Seattle Mariners have been worse". We feel your pain, M's fans. Whatever happened to Alvin Davis?

  4. Tonight's game looks like a good one for the Jays: The 5-4 Cy Halladay for the 22-29 Jays faces the 1-5 Gil "Ga" Meche for the 19-31 Mariners. Once again it's a 10:05 start in Seattle. Replacementfordin CHris Hester has a game preview.

  5. The Expos game was pretty ugly last night as well, as they fell to the Braves 8-2. Here's the AP game report. Is Livan Hernandez on the Bartolo Colon diet? He looks a bit heavier than last year, and he wasn't exactly small then.

  6. Hasn't this issue been done to death? "Parity in baseball? Let's forget about it" by Garth Woolsey.

  7. Geoff Baker has an article on one of my favourites in "Borders enjoying life in minors and majors". How can you not root for the guy?

  8. If Dave Perkins hasn't been reading the Batter's Box, then he's been reading our minds. In "Jays need to spend Delgado's money" he discusses the 2005 budget, whether or not the Jays should resign Delgado, and the possible trading of Frankie Cat.

  9. Man, does the Star have a lot of baseball coverage today. Wish every day could be like this. The final piece, "Diamond legend shines on", an interview with former Orioles great Cal Ripken.

Did you know it's possible to strain a muscle in your bum?
