Chalk up 3 more wins as the three highest levels teams followed the parent club in winning and low A Charleston had the night off.

Syracuse 3 Durham 2

The ‘Chiefs pulled out a one run win courtesy of some defensive miscues by the Bulls and a Jeff Guiel solo shot in the ninth. Guiel also singled and doubled to lead the Syracuse offense with 3 hits. Gabe Gross had a double and a walk in 4 PA, Glenn Williams also reached base twice and Russ Adams managed only a walk in 5 PA.

On the pitching side, Sean Douglass appears to be settling down as he threw 5.1 innings of one run ball. Bob File added two shutout innings, 1H, 1BB. He now owns a 0.51 ERA in 17.2 innings with a not quite as impressive 6/4 K to BB ratio. Mark Lukasiewicz allowed the second Durham run and Kevin Frederick came on in the ninth for his first AAA save of the year and his 25th at that level over his career.

New Britain 2 New Hampshire 8

Todd Ozias had a good night leading the Fisher Cats to their 27th win of the season pitching 6 solid innings yielding only 2 runs on 4 hits, 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. The win breaks a 4 game skid. The heart of the lineup came through for the F-Cats as the 3rd hitter in the lineup Dominic Rich doubled and drew three walks and scored three times. Cleanup hitter John-Ford Griffin added his 7th HR of the season as well as a single and a walk to score twice followed by Aaron Hill’s two singles and a walk in the 5 spot.

Brandon League pitched two shutout innings in relief and Jordan DeJong finished off the ninth.

Dick Scott visits Manchester - He likes what he sees in general from the team but thinks the stadium may be responsible for the offensive woes. This amid concerns that the new stadium may not be finished in time to start next season as planned.

Clearwater 10 Dunedin 14

Kurt Isenberg’s night wasn’t quite as ugly as his 6.2 IP, 5ER line would suggest. He did not allow a hit or a walk through 4 of his first 5 innings, struggling only in the 4th. He left with two outs in the seventh with runners on first and second only to watch Derrick (aka Robert) Nunley implode by giving up a walk, a wild pitch and back to back homeruns before getting his only out of the game. The worst part, you ask? The D-Jays scored five in the bottom of the inning to give Nunley the win.

Chris Woodward was 2-2 in his second rehab appearance. Gregg Raymundo, Carlo Cota, Miguel Negron, Raul Tablado and Jason Waugh also collected two hits apiece with Cota and Negron hitting long balls. In total the baby Jays drew 9 walks.

Three-Star Selection!

Once again the Blue Jays minor league team was undefeated, making them 7-0 on my watch. The standouts for me today were the offensive performers, though Todd Ozias gets an honourable mention.

The 3rd Star Miguel Negron: single, HR, walk and a pair batted in

The 2nd Star Carlo Cota: double, HR, walk and 3 runs batted in.

The 1st Star Jeff Guiel: the Canadian went 3-4 with the game winning home run
