All change -- don't you know that when you
Play at this level there's no ordinary venue

I've been a horrible Jays fan lately, as that's the first game I've watched from beginning to end in about 6 weeks. What a game to pick, though, as the Jays take out the Dodgers 7-1.

  1. Ted Lilly looked really sharp last night, with 1 walk and 7 Ks. Plus Howie Clark hit his first majorl eague homerun. Way to go, Howie! Find out more with Spencer Fordin's "Lilly cruises to Interleague win", Jeff Blair's "Lilly, Clark take the stage", Jim Byers' "Stand-in stars for the Jays", Mike Rutsey's "Lilly shines in Jays win", and CP's "Lilly just artful against Dodgers".

  2. Fordin Notes: There was a bit of a roster shuffle on the Jays yesterday, as Speier, Cat, and Woody all came off of the DL. To make room, Delgado and De Los Santos were put on the 15 day DL, and Simon Pond was sent to AAA. Last night J.P. was on the radio talking to Jerry Howarth, and J.P. mentioned that Pond is still struggling hitting sharp breaking stuff. The demotion should give Pond a chance to play every day, so he can overcome his Cerranoness.

  3. Both days of the draft are over, so the Jays can turn their attention to trying to sign most of the 50 guys they selected, as discussed in Spencer Fordin's article "Jays turn focus to signing draftees".

  4. Tonight's battle of the righties should be fun to watch. The 30-25 Dodgers bring the 4-1 Jose Lima to the mound, while the 26-32 Blue Jays are sending the 3-4 Miguel Batista. Spencer Fordin has a game preview. If that isn't enough excitement for you, check out Jose Lima's wife.

  5. In the "Former Jay Returns to the Dome for the First Time" Department: "Green, Delgado pick up where they left off" by Richard Griffin.

  6. Donovan Vincent's "Gagne's fastball flying under Canadian radar" makes a good point. I very rarely hear people outside of the Batter's Box discuss Gagne, or baseball for that matter. It's a shame, because they're missing a great game!

A quick thank you: I'd like to say thanks to Mike Wilner for his excellent interview with Blue Jays scouting director Jon Lalonde last night. It's a shame if you missed it, but you should at least check out our interview with him.
