Jays Roundup - And We're Not Little Children

That game yesterday was so long, I followed it on Gamecast in my office, listened to it on the car ride home, and watch the last couple innings on TV.

  1. I'm a big fan of low scoring games, and you can't get much more low-scoring than 1-0 over 14 innings. It's a shame the bad guys won, but Bush was fantastic. If you missed his exploits yesterday, you'll want to read Rick Eymer's "Jays lose pitchers' duel in 14", Mychael Urban's "Miller's single in 14th beats Jays", Bob Elliott's One hit, no runs, one loss" and "Rookie almost unhittable", Mark Zwolinski's "Jays find a one-hit wonder", AP's "Jays lose marathon".

  2. Fordin Notes (by Rick Eymer) on Frasor the Closer, a couple of roster moves, and Delgado's performance since his return from the DL. If you want to ask Eric Hinske a question, the notes tell you how you can do so.

  3. Another away game today, but it's in the Eastern time zone, so us fans in Ontario don't have to stay up to watch the game, and the fans out west go back to watching 4 and 5 PM starts. It looks like a bit of a lop-sided matchup as the Jays send the 2-8 Pat Hentgen to the hill, while the Yankees counter with the 10-6 Javy Vazquez. But there are no sure things in baseball; that's why they play the games. As always, MLB.com has the game preview.

  4. Geoff Baker has more on the Halladay injury in "Halladay pain runs deep". If it wasn't clear before why Halladay kept running himself out there with a little soreness, this paragraph will clear it up:

      "I kind of feel like I'm walking out on some guys right now," the ace Blue Jays pitcher said in a telephone interview. "Especially the way we've been scuffling of late. That's why I wanted to stay in there and I really didn't know what I should do."

    Given how the Jays have struggled this year, I think it's understandable.

  5. I have a feeling this is going to end up being a non-issue, but the Star doesn't want to let it go. In Geoff Baker's "Anti-war Delgado may face N.Y. flak" and William C. Rhoden's "Good for Delgado and his anti-war stand" we're told that there may be trouble for Delgado in New York because of his anti-war stand. You'd think if Delgado was to run into trouble it would have started in a Republican state like Texas, 9/11 notwithstanding.
