For a new affair
She knew it would finish
Before it began
Something tells me you lost the plan

Yesterday ended up being a busy day. The Jays won, they traded Terry Adams to the Red Sox, Pat Hengen retired, and it's Hall of Fame day for Paul Molitor and Dennis Eckersley.

Oh yeah, the Jays play a game today as well.

* Game Recaps:
Blue Jays make it two straight - Fordin
Towers tosses a nice tribute - Baker
Towers tosses a thrifty gem - Rutsey
Blue Jays defeat Devil Rays 4-2 - Millson

* Notes
Fordin Notes: Reflections on Hentgen
Blue Jays watch - Rutsey
Fans Don't Forget - Gray

* Terry Adams was traded to the Red Sox last night for AA 3B John Hattig. Discussion of the trade can be found in this thread including many links to information on Hattig. It looks like Hattig will be better than the bag of balls some fans were looking for in return. The Sun says that he'll make the relatively short drive to play for NH.

"He can swing the bat," Ricciardi said of Hattig, a switch hitter. "We've been following him for some time. When we asked about him a week ago, Boston initially said no."

It was reported during the Portland Seadog broadcast that the Jays were including cash in the deal, however, the Boston Globe reports that the Sox are paying the balance of Adams' contract. Searching some more, the Boston Herald says the Jays ARE including money in the deal. Perhaps someone can get to the bottom of this.

* Yesterday Pat Hengen retired. I don't have anything to add to the Bauxite's sentiments. However, many in the press do:

Hentgen departs with his dignity - Griffin (I'm guessing, it doesn't say, but it sounds like him)
Hentgen's fire dies after 14 classy years - Baker
Jays Praise a 'Class Act' - Rutsey
Hentgen has seen enough - Rutsey

* It's Hall of Fame day for Paul Molitor and Dennis Eckersley
Molitor was a Beaut - Elliot
First Ballot Opens Doors - Kekis
Molitor Rides DH into Hall - Edes

* Today's Game - David Bush starts for the Jays and the Devil Rays will send out Victor Zambrano.

So does the Cheer Club have anything planned for Hentgen today?
