* Bobby Mattick, 89 - CP

* Long-time Blue Jay said 'vitamins and beer' contributed to stamina - Millson

* Mattick was an integral part of the Jays - Perkins

Clement signs with Red Sox

* Blue Jays' big fish caught by Red Sox - Baker

Sources said Matt Clement agreed yesterday to a three-year deal worth $25.5 million (all figures U.S.).

A Blue Jays source confirmed last night that Toronto's offer was at least $2 million below the package from the Red Sox.

* Jays strike out chasing hurler - Millson

"I think all along we had a good rotation with [Roy] Halladay, [Ted] Lilly, Batista, [Gustavo] Chacin, [Dave] Bush and [Josh] Towers," Ricciardi said. "We feel comfortable there. We thought this guy [Clement] would have made it a lot better because it would have allowed Batista to stay in that closer's role."

* Jays out of the hunt for Clement - Rutsey

Ricciardi has about $7-8 million left to play with out of his $52 million budget and he said he'll use it to address his needs in the bullpen and to try and acquire another bat, preferably one that hits from the right side.
