I expect this to be a dull game thread -- not only is this game not on the radio or on TV, it's not on the radio or TV in Pittsburgh and it's not being webcast at all.
So, I suggest that we keep our eyes on the slow-to-update box scores at Yahoo and wherever else we can find 'em and make up our own totally fake play-by-play.
Whaddaya think about that?
Gus Chacin is starting for the Jays; according to the Globe and Mail's dead tree edition this morning, Jason Bay is out for a bit with a bone bruise in his wrist, which he got while diving for a ball. He's listed as week-to-week, but should be ready for opening day.
Don't forget, the curtain goes up on the televised season tomorrow night at 7:00 against the sad-sack Yankees, who are languishing at the bottom of the league like some kind of crazy NFH wish-fulfillment. I don't care if it's just Spring Training -- the Jays are in first and the Yankees are in last, and I don't expect to see that again any time soon except for in my wildest dreams, so I'm going to love every second of it.
Sadly, we won't be getting a preview of Sportsnet's new broadcast team; instead we'll be seeing the delightful and impartial personalities from the YES Network. I also suspect that YES won't be trucking down their hi-def gear to Florida, but you never know, and I'd be sure to say some nice things about them if they did.
But, back to the topic at hand: Chacin backed by the Jays "juggernaut" (that's what Doug Farraway called 'em on the Fan this morning) against the Pirates of Pittsburgh, yarrrrrrrr!
