He let his pitching do all the talking, but Zach Jackson let it be known that there's more than one lefty first rounder to keep your eye on.

Buffalo 7, Syracuse 2 - Game 1

Buffalo 3, Syracuse 8 - Game 2

The Bisons feasted off a struggling Brandon League for 5 runs in 4 innings. Mike Nannini (who coincidentally was part of the package sent to the Marlins for Derrek Lee) didn't fare much better. The 'Chiefs scored both runs in the loss on a homerun from Kevin Barker.

The second game featured a tag team effort from Los Dos Matos', Julius and Josue. Josue pitched 5 innings, allowing only 2 runs while Julius doubled, homered and drove in 4 runs. Chad Mottola and Gabe Gross also added homeruns. Matt Duff pitched the final inning and struck out 3.

New Hampshire 4, Akron 1

The Fisher Cats took an early lead with a 2 RBI double from Raul Tablado in the second followed by a lead-off home run from 2000 first rounder Miguel Negron in the third. Meanwhile, last year's supplemental first rounder, Zach Jackson, was cruising. Perfect through 3 innings, Jackson gave up a soft single followed by an error from Tablado and later a walk to load the bases. But he flashed his pick-off move nail the runner at 1st to end the threat. He finished the evening with 7 IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 8K and now sports a 0.60 ERA in 2 starts. Ryan Roberts doubled in the eighth to drive home Negron for the Cats fourth run. Ryan Houston allowed a solo homerun in the eighth while Lee Gronkiewicz finished off the ninth for his 18th save.

Dunedin 2, Fort Myers 4

From about the sandwich pick onwards, several Bauxites were clamouring for the Jays to draft Chip Cannon at this time last year. They eventually got their wish in the 8th round and he hasn't let them down. He was the brightest spot in the Jays lineup last night while going 2 for 2 with a homerun, 2 walks and drove in both of the D'Jays runs. Kurt Isenberg had a decent night, lasting 6.1 innings but was simply outperformed by Miracle starter and former 2nd rounder Scott Tyler.

Lansing 7, Peoria 1

Kyle Yates had an outstanding night giving up only 1 run in 5 innings while striking out 10. However, he left the game with his team trailing 1-0. The Lugs would break out however with a rally in the seventh followed by another in the ninth. After Cory Patton's failed lead-off bunt attempt in the seventh, the Lugnuts strung together a bunch of singles and walks to score 3 but left the bases loaded. Again they strung together several singles and some walks in the ninth but capped the inning with a two run double from Aaron Mathews. Jason Armstrong added 4 hits.
