Just two games for the Blue Jay farm on the eve of the short season, and neither came out in favour of the good guys.

Richmond 3 @ Syracuse 0

Back in Syracuse, Chad Gaudin picked up where he left off as a SkyChief, hurling 8 strong innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits and, most impressively, striking out 8 while walking none. Unfortunately for him minor league vet Seth Greisinger teamed up with Jason Childers to stifle the Syracuse bats on just 3 hits and 4 walks. Kevin Barker (2 BB) and Chad Mottola (BB, HBP) each reached base twice. Spike Lundberg set the Braves down in order in the 9th.

Erie 6 @ New Hampshire 3

The 6th inning was the undoing of the Fisher Cats, as Sea Wolves put up a 4-spot. Most of the damage was inflicted with Jamie Vermilyea on the mound, as he allowed an Ismael Ramirez inherited runner to score as well as 3 markers against his own record, including a 2 run homer. Ramirez’ line for the night was 5+ innings, 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, 4-2 K-BB. Brian Reed and Bubbie Buzachero finished up, Reed allowing a solo homer in his 2 frames.

Erik Kratz smacked a 2-run dinger for New Hampshire, the only extra-base hit they would manage. Miguel Negron tallied two base knocks, while Clint Johnston one-upped him by also drawing a walk.
