Auburn took the Jamestown Jammers' pitchers deep 6 times as the affiliates took 3 of 5 games. New Hampshire was rained out.
Syracuse 5, Norfolk 6
Chad Gaudin did not have a pleasant time in Norfolk last night. That's to be expected when you give up a grand slam in the first inning, I suppose. He would settle down temporarily, retiring the next 6 Tides. But the Tides then tacked on another run in each of the fourth and fifth innings. Trailing 6-1 and Gaudin removed from the game, the Skychiefs started to mount a comeback, putting up a run in the sixth and again in seventh. That was followed by back to back homers from Julius Matos and Danny Solano in the eighth. That would be all the scoring as the 'Chiefs couldn't muster much against closer Juan Padilla.
New Hampshire @ Binghamton - rained out
Clearwater 2, Dunedin 3
It took 12 innings, but at least the Blue Jays came out on top in this one. Clearwater took the early lead with a solo shot in the first from Jake Blalock, the younger brother of Rangers 3rd baseman Hank, off starter Kyle Yates. They added another on a two out error from Eric Arnold in the fourth. Dunedin came back to tie it at two after doubles from Adam Lind and Robinson Diaz and an RBI single from Manny Mayorson. The D'Jays loaded the bases in the eighth but Lind grounded out to end the inning. Things got interesting in the 12th when Danny Hill walked the bases full but escaped the jam. The Jays won it when Rodney Medina singled, Jayce Tingler advanced him to second with a groundout and Carlo Cota singled to bring him home.
Lansing 3, Dayton 4
AJ Wideman was pitching a gem, allowing only 2 singles with 8 K's through the first 5 innings. It was the 6th inning that will haunt him as he hit a batter, fielded a comebacker but couldn't make the out at second, and then gave up a homerun to BJ Szymanski. The Lugnuts tied it up in the eighth after a bases loaded walk drawn by Charlie Anderson. However, Dayton took the game in the bottom of the ninth with 3 consecutive singles off of Juan Perez.
Auburn 10, Jamestown 8
The big story in this one was the six long balls hit by the Doubledays. Two from CF Ryan Patterson, one from RF Cory Patton and one from LF Brian Pettway. That's quite the outfield if you're into college ball. Emmanuel Sena and Jermy Acey were the other two Doubledays to go deep. Billy Carnline and Josh Sowers were both roughed up in this one as Auburn trailed 8-4 in the early goings.
Bristol 0, Pulaski 4
Reidier Gonzalez pitched 5 sparkling innings allowing 5 singles, 1 walk, and no runs while picking up 5 K's. Zach Kalter was the only Jay with an extra base hit, a triple, but they were helped along by some timely singles and shoddy defense from the opposition.
